Where has this been all my life

I'm getting pretty tired of WoW for the 6th time or so. There has never seemed to be an MMO that could ease the addiction and finally replace WoW. When I stumbled upon this last night, it was like the heavens opened up and there was hope again in a darkened and lost world.

From what I have seen and read so far I am highly impressed. The only thing that kinda bothers me is the character creation. Yes variety is good, the adjustment of body height, weight, size, and features is a big plus, but facial features and too many features can be a time sink whole. When I read what they were doing I immediately thought of Oblivion. It's like they are giving us too much rope to hang ourselves with. Then again it may not be too bad.

Anyways, the game looks simply amazing and cant wait to play it! I hope they take their time and get things running smoothly before they decide to release.

Cheers

Hehe ... The time sink is totally optional and really depends on the creativity of the individual I don't understand your comment. The option is there to create a very realistic charachter or a brown blob that wobbles along your option.

Simutronics have always been very keep on detail RP community and Fun, I can attest to that so the detail is important to them.

If you want to end up totally addicted and you have a little time to see a great and in depth game system in play (the hope is that a lot of the features you see will be incorporated into HJ, goto the Dragonrealms site and play it for a week...

It already runs smoothly they need the time to refine a few of the systems and generate the content that appears to be lacking to beef up the world. They have been spending most of their time recently selling the Hero Engine to Third Parties to develop their own MMORPGs' the core mechanics behind Heroes Journey.

What's amazing is another new world to explore, and I hope they get it right.  Have to disagree on the character creation variability being a good thing.  It can be maddening to get your nose length, width, pitch just right.  Sometimes, I much prefer a more limited set of choices so that I can be certain I have chosen the best available for me.

The trick to making a "just right" character from something that offers a lot of options is to, first, try to get something "close" using as few sliders as possible.  Then mess with the little sliders by first seeing what the extremes look like.  Ultimately, if you don't like them you barely have to touch on them.  It's just an option so in the end it is a good thing, but only just as much as choosing the topic of an essay you might be writing would be a good thing.

With so many MMO's out there with limited options for creating your character I don't really understand the complaints about HJ. The last thing I want is for my elf or dwarf or gnome to look like every other elf, dwarf or gnome in the game. I'm sure that there will be a "random" button for those of you that don't want to go through the trouble of spending the time to create a unique looking characer.

HJ is trying to seperate itself from the other MMO's and one of the ways it's going to do that is with the character creation system. Some may find it a chore, but I think most players will be enthusiastic about a system that will allow them to create a truly unique character instead of a cookie cutter looking guy or girl.
