Get out your dart board..pin a 2007-2008 calandar to it ......and throw away..the result will be as good as anybody elses opinion.Seems as though they have money..and little sense of urgency or experience launching a game.
There are now bigger and better mmos in the horizon.
Anyhow my heart still holds a drop of hope for this game..
The only thing that I see that may hold a candle to this is Age of Conan and Gods and Heroes. Both of which look pretty good, but I'm skeptical about, especially Gods and Heroes.
But do you guys realize this isn't just another Fantasy style RPG?????????????
This is a PIRATE RPG type. Please don't compare to Fantasy style MMOS, Conan and Gods and Heroes are the Fantasy style and Pirates well it's nautical pirate style.

"Don't compare X MMO to X MMO because X" is kind of treading a fine line.
What's the least amount of ambiguity that's necessary to compare 2 games? Gods and Heroes is more about a squad based fantasy combat in Rome while Age of Conan is more of a real time hack and slash that takes place in Hyboria (sp).
You have more faith in the dev team then most I know, eh I will be shocked at this point if it actually is good. Yea, never been positive about this game sense a long time ago devs were dead set against walking the land and having real avatars. Then ofcourse changing their tune because everyone pretty much lost intrest except the die hards. Now they are to another point were it's distribuation issues or more. Eh to many games that were long delayed turn out to be lemons. We all expect delays no doubt, but years are added, it makes one wonder what the original game was really like and how at this point it can even seem new with such an outdated engine. Eh, it's one of those wait and see after release titles, I tried LOTRO and found it horrid and allot of people seem to love it, I might be wrong here, but then again LOTRO didn't take 6 years to make.
As a point of clarification, we've *never* been dead set against real avatars. What we did plan to do at first was to release a ship-only game and then use the income from that to introduce avatars at a later date. Eventually, however, we decided that because you only get one chance to ship and make a first impression, we were better served to bite the bullet (and eat the dev cost) and do it all up front. Since SWG Jump to Lightspeed didn't really draw in any new players, it became apparent that adding a new form of combat later didn't really give you a second launch. It remains to be seen how well Eve fairs with adding avatars, as I believe they've now announced. While it will certainly help with retension, I'm not sure people who passed them by for the lack of it will go back for a look now. But in our case it something we've wanted all along and later chose to do for our first release.

Yeah, I would say that doing avatars up front was the best decision. Taking a look at your market and demographic you certainly realized that having a handle on up front style and combat changes made early on makes for a better foundation. Comparing to SWG you can see what happened to that.
I am happy you guys are taking your time and doing it right.

I am happy you guys are taking your time and doing it right. Also look what happened to VGsoh rushed out and it sucked bad I say, take as much time as you need to get it right because if this game with all the release set backs is buggy or unfinished and i know no mmo is ever realy finished this game will fall faster then VGsoh and the SWG -NGE-

Quite possibly the smartest, most important decision you folks ever made in your MMO's hopefully long life.
If I remember correctly, they had always planned to add avatars and the main reason or one of the reasons was because players complained about no avatar play, so if your so gung ho to piss on the game because they haven't rushed it as most MMOs have been, such as Vanguard, and SWG NGE.
Do you want the game done now or do you want it done right? Making a good game takes time, it's not something that can be put together instantly as some seem to believe. It takes hard work and dedication, maybe if they spent more time on the Titanic it would not of gone down in history as such a disaster perhaps they don't want to be another titanic like Vanguard was.
I say better to take their time and make an amazing MMO than push it out as a half assed game , but hey thats just my opinion. Your welcome to your own.
