FFXI - Help

Sup every1, now im pretty sure i know what im going to have to do in order to fix this problem.Thing is, i REALLY hope im wrong so i can play FFXI ASAP,lol.

Ok, heres the run down, i installed everything perfectly, went smooth without a hitch, updated and everything. I click on play, screen goes black....then poof back to the main menu.I get a nice little error too, that im pretty sure i know what it means and what i have to do, but like i said, i REALLY hope im wrong.The error is as follows:

Terminated as error occured in FINAL FANTASY XI. Failed to reconize hardware TnL. Please check that this computer has the required specifications to run FINAL FANTASY XI.(-1)

Now i checked all of my specs, and everything checks out ok.The only thing that i have a concern about is the graphics card.Since it says min. spec. is Nvidia GeForce. I have a Intel 8284 5G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller. ( thats straight from the DXDiag,lol)

So im thinking im going to have to buy a graphics card....whih means waiting for 2 weeks untill my next paycheck.....wich means wasting 2 weeks of my free 30 day subscription......which sux.

Obviously you can see why i'm REALLY hoping theres somthing else that can be done. Whoever can help me, free beer all night!

im not much of a troubleshooter, but have you updated your hardware? I encourage you to try if it has been awhile.

Well, the thing is this is a new computer. Then again, it couldnt hurt.

OK, i got a graphics card,(it used to be mine but i gave it to a friend) its an Nvidia Geforce4 MX420 64mb(i know still a shitty one) BUT, the min spec for FFXI says an Nvidia GeForce series card with at least 34mb. Ok, well if im not mistaking, the 1 i have meets those min specs. yet i STILL CANT PLAY!!

Now when i click play i get another error saying failed to initiallize direct3d.(or somthing to that effect) So NOW WHATS WRONG? i've already wasted away about a week of my free 30 days!?!?!?

I had the same problem with my Nvidia mx 460 but when I downloaded the latest drivers from Nvidia my problems went away.  Hope this helps.

i tryed to d/l the latest drivers, and when i did and restarted, i got a blank screen...non display....no thing.

Well that just sucks. Try using the cd that the company sends with the computer. Then try to download the drivers again.

hmmm, I used to use a geforce mx420 for FFXI and that isnt the problem.

its probably a problem with Direct 3d so I would try updating that, if that doesnt work try and find a program to repair Direct 3d drivers.
