350k-500k loyal accts would be more than enough income for a small nimble company of  less than 150 people to be ok on.Unless you are a huge public company, you dont need 3million asians,3 million us,and 2 million euros to subscribe to be ok.But EA needs to push for 2 things as a publicly traded corp. make money and grow the business.I prefer products for the classes, not the masses.

I'm not quite sure what AoC has to do with the topic of this thread, but for me, its not a question of  WAR -or- AoC.  I'll play whatever is more fun and appealing.  But I must say, with what I see from WAR, they are winning me over.

They are talking about issues that I care about as an MMO gamer, and are handling those issues in a way that appeals to me.  For instance, their stance on healer classes.  I KNOW that Mythic believes pure healers are boring to play.  Why?  Because they flat out said it.  Moreover, I agree with it!  I had a lvl 60 priest in WoW, and man, did that whack a mole game play drive me batty after a few months.  I gave up that character because it got soooo boring.  So - they have a philosophy that I agree with on this.  And the more "core philosophies" I am hearing from them, the more confidence I have that they truly understand how to make my gameplay fun.

And that whole bear analogy.. I can't begin to say how many times that friggin happened. to me.  This credit system Paul is talking about sounds like an MMO godsend!

"...and with that cryptic comment, I'm off to bed!"

There is one MMO that lets players become a DM, creating their own quests and instanced area.  This game also allows players to customize their spells and abilities.  It is now several years old, but it was revolutionary in many ways...like Shadowbane.  Too bad both games fell short overall.

    Saga of Ryzom  -  www.ryzom.com/

It actually died for a few months last year, but a new company picked it up and the game i still ongoing.  I don't know of any other games that let you customize spells or become a DM.  In Ryzom when you learn a new spell you learn the components and can then apply those to other spells as well (as long as they don't  go over the ability points for that particular spell)  i.e.  You learn Acid Spray, and AE spell, and Fire ball, single target.  You can apply the AE component to the fire ball, but you may need to up the mana cost or shorten the range so the total ability points even out for the spell.

Just like Ryzom did with customization, Shadowbane did with guild/town building.

I admit, I was impressed by the podcasts. I'll have to give WAR a trial and see how well it fits.

I found keeping my group alive, while the other grp was trying to kill me alot more challanging than hitting my /assist macro and 1 key as a caster.Mythic is dumbing down the game to appeal to a wider audience. The more leet groups with solid support would just pawn casuals all day long in DAoC.Now the groups are hardly even nessesary, no more making baby sister or grandma play cleric. You can just hop on a ranged toon and zerg surf ad infinitum between 2 capitols.

I fail to see how you're coming to the conclusion that Ranged toons are the best and that zerg surfing between the capitals (by the way there's 6 capitals) is possible?

Please link me to the information that even remotely hints to either of these points?

ooooo Atziloth your awesome i like that u give an intellegent rebuttle based of solid facts.  Well to sum up what i think, WAR is doing everything I want and the path its going on is the right one, I am pratically sold right now with it. I have to admit I am very interested in AoC and almost more interested with then WAR, but when i saw Paul's podcasts on Quest, my eyes were turned backed to WAR It was perfect.

Ranged toons are much better in a zerg surf.there usually disorganized and do you wanna go charge in and melee while your zerg just stands there and watches you get nuked.no there is no link for experience, sorry.

theres 3 sets of capitols sitting apart from each other, with easy mass transit zergs will form primarily at one set. There is no speed in this game so it's not hard to keep up with a zerg while ungrouped.the concept of zerg surfing was common in daoc casters with speed and life taps were ideal for it.
