Returning to DaoC. Server Question

TroadaTroada Member Posts: 76

Hey. Been struggling to find a decent mmo to get into for the past few months now. Thought I might try DaoC again, havn't played it for about two years, but thought it would be somthing good to play to get into the RvR spirit before WAR comes out.

Im currently downloading the European 14 day trial account just to see if I still enjoy the game.
My only real question is. Whats the difference between classic and normal servers.
What are the populations like in this servers? Are there still new players joining DaoC everyday? If so, do they tend to go to classic servers or normal?

Thx in advance

Classic Servers has taken TOA out of the game.No artifacts,There are ranges on buffs so it doesn't allow buffbots.

Normal Servers TOA Buffbots and everything else.

Players tend to go to Classic Servers as the population is higher on them,i'm not sure about EU though.

    Alrite thanks.

I'll most probably play on the classic servers then.

Is anyone able to comment on the situation with european servers in comparison to the US?

Never played on Euro servers but from what I hear they can't get any more dead then they are now

just come to classic and have some fun, just don't click the cup!

I'm playing on the english EU servers and they are not dead, but the population has dipped quite abit.

There is plenty of rvr action in the fronteirs every night. Try the trial and try to get to know some players that can help you. You won't find many low level players to play wih I'm afraid.

There are no classic english servers anymore they made them german... But the ToA servers are great anyhow, ml-raids on regular basis and artifacthunts ect.

Ok thanks for the feedback guys.

From what I could tell there were only about 300 players in the english speaking servers, and that was about 10pm. The only classic servers were German, where the only reply I got from german passers by where "ARE YOU CRAZY?" I guess they were unamused by my poor effort at holding a convo in German ^^

Im currently downloading the US client now. Taking bloody ages mind. Got about an hour left then im done. I'm hopeing the classic servers there are a bit more populated than the EU servers.
By the way. I know its kinda too late now, but was there ever anyway to view and connect to the US servers via the EU client?

It is more populated and has a large EU population on it for the reasons you mentioned.

Hope you have a great time with all the new buggs on the US-servers :)

300 sounds abit low, you know there are 2 server that are connected, so the actualt numbers are about 600 players.

Im also an old DAOC player that is tired of all the crap that is out right now with babyfied pvp. I will be trying Classic server again (my wife is also downloading as we speak)...

Is there any benefit in trying to find my old account instead of starting a new one?

Only if you want to have access to those characters.

    Thanks,

I just downloaded the client using my old Trials of atlantis cd's do I need to upgrade to the other expansions if I am only interested in playing the Classic?

Ohh and is the classic PVP server? or is it a normal server? Its been a while.

The classic servers are just like your regular server minus the TOA expansion and there is a range limit on buffs as well as buffs being group only now so that limits the use of buffbots..

The classic servers however support all other expansions and most people that play there use all of them. I'd say go to the herald and get a grasp of what they offer and make a decision for yourself.
