how the community?

I recently left another MMO, you can guess which one, because the community of little kids and "l33t" speakers was horrid.

Hows the community in LotRO?

I think its hard to say right now...the game is still very new and there are a lot of people using 30 day trials, people that havnt picked it up yet...etc.

Overall IMO its a lot more mature than your other game but only time will tell.  I have seen some nuckleheads in the chats but for all of the PUG's I have been in they were all good experiences.

The community seems stronger than during the World Tour as those were just many people trying it...its taken a step up from that..but I think its still sorting itself out.  Overall its pretty strong though.

Huh, I'm I missing something? When was there free ttials since World Tour? Unless you mean the buddy key trials which i believe is only 10 days. If there is a free trial point me to it :D

Used the wrong word...the free 30 days you get when buying.  After those expire is when I feel you get a better idea for a community as you know will will pay to play it :)

I would say the 6-20 levels are as bad as most MMOs, but once you get past the starting areas it is better.

I do turn off OOC channel, but I have yet to run into anyone talking the typical leet speak in any groups.

I just started playing Monster Play regularly now that more level 50s are around. There is a pretty good community

of Monsters (creeps) and we all have our infamous Players (Freeps) that we target.

I would rate the over all community of LOTRO as above average.

Sorry about doing that.  Maybe everyone will get a third batch of buddy keys so more people can give it a try.  I had the one in the box, but was also emailed a second one a couple weeks ago.  Hopefully another round will go out :)

At the lower levels there's a higher percentage of numbnuts, but that's true of any game.
I don't know if it's just people that are new to MMO's that aren't aware of camps, and the like, or if it's just people being selfish pricks with no regards for anyone other than themselves.

Or maybe I just need to be less nice to others ingame, and just nab whatever mob, or node I want/need, regardless of whether there is anyone else there first. Seems to work well for most others. Every dwarf for themselves, and whatnot.

I've been pretty happy with the community so far. Most people have been very polite and helpful. There will always be exceptions in MMOs, but this seems to have fewer jerks than most.

I hate to say it, but I honestly think the lack of focused PvP might have something to do with it. You won't get the l33t kids with something to prove in this game. Not that there's anything wrong with PvP (I like it too) but I think more PvP-centric games do tend to attract a 'meaner' crowd, so to speak.

    MMO history:
    EQ1 - 65 DE Wizard
DAoC - 50 Dwarf Thane, 50 Dwarf Healer
EvE - Amarr, Caldari BShip Pilot
    CoH - 40 Ice/Ice Blaster, 40 Dark/Regen Scrapper
WoW - 60 Undead Priest, 60 Tauren Warrior
    LoTRO - 30 Hobbit Burglar
    Currently Playing - Tabula Rasa

No PvP FFA = better community.

So far LOTRO has been a pretty nice communtiy to me, and I group quite alot in this game. There was one jerk who kept threating to kick people if they didnt follow his orders, I got fed up told him in no uncertain terms what I thought of his mother and left the fellowship /ignored jackass, but that was one WoW kiddie, of a close to a hundred grps though.
