my pc won't let me play!

thats right! i can't play any more , every time i try ANY game the same thing happens , 1st this weird lines appear out of nowhere like glitches or soemthing , the screen freezes and then ... the pc restarts by it self  , i'm pretty desperate at this point lol  , its been like 1 month since i last played anything (do u feel my pain? =p )no1 of my friends know about Pcs to help me out , so i'm was trying to c if some1 could help by posting here , i have tried everything i could think of ( i don't know much about Pcs myself btw ) changing my video card drivers ,(different versions ) , installing service pack 2 , without service pack 2 , using the retial drivers from my Cds , formating my Driver C , formating D and E just in case i end it up installing something there somehow  , after the fresh copy of Windows is isntalled , i just isntall the drivers ,direct x 9  a game to test and the game still crashing , i even went to the store where i bought it to get them to check it and after 3 days they told me IT could be somethign about windows and bc i didnt have service pack 2 ( at that monent i didnt have it after all those times i was formating trying to get things to work ) and i didnt have my copy activated , so they pretty much told me that they tested my video card with an external disk and everything worked ( wich i doubt... the same guy told me  the same thing when i gave him my pc to check it  without even running any tests or anything ) so after 3 days of waiting and 30 bucks wasted for "reparations "  he told me that he could install me a new copy of xp and pretty much make everything work ( yeah right....)

if ne1 here has any ideas what the problem could be  and give me a hand i would really appreciated

Try doing an entire re-formatting of windows, I had that problem once when I got myself a virus on the computer, fixed it, even though I lost everything in the process :S but I guess that's what an external hard drive is for eh? *pets his hard drive then realizes it isn't plugged in and blinks as the screen turns off*..... NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

LOL, You can trust Rikimaru. Anyway man, put it this way, I don't want your topic to go down and not get any help what so ever. Call it a bump. I would love to help you, but I'm pretty sure we are on the same path when it comes to computers. Do you live near me? I just find your comments funny, becuase my dad ate the last peice of apple pie and I just got back home from getting my dad his Father's Day gift. I might be a ninja, but are you a mind reader? Sounds like a heat issue.

Try running it with the side of your case off.

Touch any heatsinks with your finger. (The CPU, the mainboard, the graphics card). Any one that burns you is the one at fault. Replacing the fan is a cheap and easy solution for the CPU.

If none of your components are too hot, then your GFX card is mostly likely blown. Return it under warranty if you can, or replace it if not.

yeah i gotta admit im a little moody , i mean i havent been able to play for a month... anyways thnx for the comment  and yes i do have service pack 2 at the moment  and im checking just in case if if its a heat issue like ppl are saying , so i just put a fan next to and took the case off hoping it wont crash on the next try.

btw we might be soulmates... i mean c'mon ...i love pie too
