Well I was wondering will there be critical strikes in this game? Personally, I really hope they take them out because I find them cheap and hard to balance properly.
, thank you for answering the question. I wish it wasn't in the game though because critical strikes can make a fight more about luck and gear rather than skill.
If they keep the chance of landing a critical very low (like 5 percent) then I won't have a problem with it. When the chance goes up to like 30 percent is when it gets annoying.

I agree with you. If they keep the crit chances low, the game will be more based on skill rather then luck.
If they do it like they did in daoc, which they most likely will. Then crit strike is not double damage like it is in wow. Crity strike would be a chance to deal an additionale 1%-50% of your normal damage. Also, the 50% crit hit would still do a lot of damage and make the fight about luck, but it doesn't happen often enaugh to have much of en effect.
It also makes it impossible to 3 shot people because you got 30% crit rate, since you can get "you hit for 300, you crittically hit for 20!"
They should have some aspect of luck put into the PvP too. Just as in real life nothing is determined 100% by skill, you need luck too. Having some stuff depend on luck would make the game better in my opinion.
Usually if you have that much crit% in a game your sacrificing other stats. I think lowering the amount of damage crits do in a more pvp based game is a smart idea, but they might have to give less of something like health or damage. But it doesn't really matter to me cause this game is going to rock

Long answer: Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees.
Also, after posting my initial reply I realized that Burning Sea isn't going to have crits. But it's probably the only one!

CH, Jedi, Commando, Smuggler, BH, Scout, Doctor, Chef, BE...yeah, lots of SWG time invested.

Remember though, this is the daoc engine... not the wow/eq engine
Critical strike % chance is at around 15% and adds between 1-50% extra damage
the "hi i have 39% chance to critical for 140% extra damage like in the pve based games, just isnt going to happen.
Ya alot of times when playing WoW i would walk up to people and just crit! crit! crit! crit! crit! crit! DEAD! Woot im so good!
lol what a joke.
