Sign up for the beta if you want to play it early. Who knows, you might get lucky =)

as far as i know, beta is ment to be going all the way upto the end of the year. Early stage beta's should change as the game gets better and has many fix's. Later stage's give a better outlay of the game, then there is the server stress testing (and minor bug fix's) to get the game to a retail stage (vanguard failed this bigtime). So yes i would probably slate this one as the first quarter of 2008, unless there are any big problems, then this could be pushed back.

I would rather wait longer and have a much more playable game, rather than an unplayable or completly buggy game, being released too early.

    Mmorpg's i have played..

Dark Age of Camelot - Beta tested this one, for its time it was good, released with only a handful of problems but was retail worthy.

Horizon's - Beta tested, released far too early, should have been held back whilst bugs and game mechanics were fixed properly. poor retail release.

Eve online - Beta tested (for a week), sent an e-mail to admin resigning my place so that somebody else could get the opportunity to test it properly, as i just could not get into it at all, and felt i was wasting a spot here.

World of Warcraft - Did not get into a beta for this and took the plunge onto it. Entered just a couple of days after release, handful of bugs but i would say yes, game was retail worthy in my eye's.

Everquest 2 - Did not get into beta here, dragged into it from a couple of mates. Played it for 3-4 months before leaving as it was not solo friendly and i gave up spending 90% or more of gametime LFG'ing for a group. Left and took the plunge onto World of Warcraft.

Everquest 1 - LOL really bad start with this one, bought a box set , maps, instructions, figure and other extra's with a box set (EQ ruins of kunark and scars of velios), however cdkey with ruins of kunark was faulty and just would not accept, after weeks of getting no were on the forums i sent the whole lot back (tel number was not in use, even enquiries had wrong number), 3 months later and expansion #2 released i finally get a package back (after several letters of were is my game that i returned), package included a faded box of ruins of kunark (big cardboard standard box with just a cd inside and a cdkey) and a faded and crushed box of Scars of velios, also with just the game cd inside. NO instructions, no maps nothing. Wasnt happy, whats more is i had a torn piece of scrap paper with a scribbled message saying - sorry it has taken so long, but we had none of the special edition box sets left and had to dig out these 2 box's instead (were from, out the bin) and the word appologies. Yeah they had none left cos they released a new expansion and box set (same price) anyways, cdkey worked and i played for 1 week, before i left. Noting SoE as a poor customer relations.

Legend of Mir 2 - Beta tested played for a few months afterwards, this was my very first online p2p game i had ever played.

Legend of Mir 3 (Europe) - played but left 2 weeks before open beta ended. Felt the game was too small to continue with playing.

Lord of the rings online - Beta tested, I must say the game was released well (Retail ready) with just the odd bug in game. However, personnally i thought the monthly price was too high for a game that didnt fit what i looked for in a game, if it had been £2-50 lower, i maybe would have purchased this game.

Vanguard Saga of Heroes - Didnt get into beta stage, bought retail with some friends, should never have left beta in that condition. Worse retail release i have ever had my misfortune of purchasing. Left after initial free month that came with game box.

Have been apart of several other beta tests but cannot remember what they are offhand...

i suppose it will be worth waiting, since i am aiming to get a new computer for christmas since this 512 ram and 32 gb hard drive laptop which when i scanned for the first time in 6 months it had 173 viruses (no joke) is probably the worst setup to be playing a mmo on since takes around 2h 30min on average to get across stormwind on wow and it takes 45 minutes to fully load up from when i turn it off (good job i have an xbox to pass the time)

ps your little everquest story made me laugh
