SWG will never have as many people as it use to, this is the turth so, old players will always think the servers look dead, we're use to cnet being full of people.
I don't play though so I dunno who is still around.
I think this is pretty much the case. Totally new to the game players may think it's populated, but it's not populated like it was back prior to the CU.
Still, if new players are enjoying the game, then I'm happy. There is a lot about it that is still very right, very fun, and very appealing.
The dropoff from the CU was noticable but not torrential, but the NGE drop off was torrential. There are more players now, from my observations, than there were in the immediate aftermath of the NGE, but nothing like it was before.
I was a bit surprised to run into people in the middle of nowhere during my vet trial period, but then again that "middle of nowhere" was in Legacy Quest country. I took my level 84 commando through parts of the legacy quest just to get the XP from completing legs of it, not great XP for a level 84 but more than grinding on Dathomir the old fashioned way, and ran into level approprate toons who asked me about my title and how they could get it. Alas, it's not possible to become an Elder Creature Handler in the NGE...but they liked the title.
CH, Jedi, Commando, Smuggler, BH, Scout, Doctor, Chef, BE...yeah, lots of SWG time invested.
What I've heard from people who still play and enjoy swg (and from my own brief return on the free trial thing a few months ago) is that most servers are still ghost towns compared to pre-nge.
Is a man not entitled to the herp of his derp?
Remember, I live in a world where juggalos and yugioh players are real things.
I miss the old game a ton but since chapter 6 we have declared all out victory over the NGE and I am playing a ton. I like the expertise system- I do miss the old days but heck I am having fun and JULES TORRES is gone! EWoooo hooooo! Just be a light to those who miss their old game and be kind. Don't forget what happened.
The sith are back. And from my perspective the NGE are evil and so are the Jedi!!! lol lol lol
I've returned after 2 years and not for the packup reason either. I had already packed everything up before I left so I didn't have to worry about losing anything unless they did a character purge.
I'm finding that I'm enjoying the game just as much as I did before. Sure, it's different in some ways, but it still the same in others. For the most part, I'm pleased how the game has progressed and think I will stick around for a while.
I came back a month ago after leaving right before the NGE hit. Wanted something besides killing orcs. The house pack up was kinda cool and it was fun to make another set of RIS on my crafter. However, the recent PVE changes to the difficulty made it extremely difficult for me to want to play. It feels like EQ2 in the begining with respec to difficulty. Not fun Hopefully they readjust the balance and I might consider yet another return.
Originally posted by dinobot20 Young man or lady I must ask you one thing... If the game as progressed into a good MMO with a growing population then, why is the rateing of this game on MMOrpg.com 6.4 down from 7.8 from the pre-cu/cu?... Might of been higher I can't remeber as it has been 2 years since I saw the old rating... Anyway this leads me to believe you just want to try to bring our hopes down of the old SWG back .. I do not hate the NGE like one poster said if somone is having fun great.. but I perfer the old system and that people like you respect those who came before you as they try not to bash you as a person.
Kallaswone Elder Jedi brith 2004.. death 2007 with lack of content and jedi being nerf to suck worse than a crafter.
Ps This is to the form poster.
MMORPG ratings mean very little. LOTRO is the highest rated game, and it doesn't even have any end-game content. VG got the highest hype rating for a while. Fanbois and angry vets both skew those polls in different directions. Plus, it's an average of all ratings since the beginning, so it's not a reflection of the recent changes and current game.

Wheres your proof that 10k are playing please? And because you claim theres only 10k playing, the game is dead? A dead game is when NO ONE is playing.
The game is not dead, it is not flourishing either. The severs are largely empty, STILL. Mergers are needed.
By largely empty do you mean that not all areas of the game are busy? That's the only possible thing I can think you're meaning, since if I want to find massings of people it's really not all that hard to do so. SWG has always been about central locations of population, as you move out of those locations and to more remote areas you would see very few people. Pre-cu Coronet was that central location, today it's Mos Eisley.

I have to disagree here.
I remember C-net, Theed, Bestine, and the Dantooine Outpost as being all quite busy in Pre-CU.
And that was on a server that was listed as Medium.
Coronet was THE central location though, like Eisley is now. Restuss, Mensix and Nyms are also busy. I wouldn't call Coronet dead in todays time either, it doesn't see alot of idle traffic like it used to but it does see alot of through traffic. If you stop in the Starport and watch for a bit, you'll probably be surprised by how many people you see flowing through.

Maybe on your server but I remember the Dant outpost being much busier at times then any other city. Same with Theed.
Hell, I even remember when Dearic was a bustling city!
I understand what you're trying to say, but I don't think I got my point through the way I wanted to.
In Pre-CU C-net was usually the central hub. I do somewhat agree. However Theed, Bestine, and the Dant Outpost all rivaled C-net in liveliness. The distinction between the "central hub" and the rest of the "busy" cities was not so apparent, and in fact any of those other cities could easily surpass C-net in traffic.
Currently, is there any city that even comes close to rivaling Mos Eisley in people and traffic?
Probably, depends on the server and time I guess. Restuss isn't the top spot for populations since it can be conditional but there are plenty of times where it has Eisley like population numbers engaging in PvP battles.

But it's not rivaling Mos Eisley on a consistant basis?

Constantly, no, but that wasn't one of your original conditions
I didn't make a condition, I asked a question which was is there any other city that comes close to rivaling Mos Eisley in population.
By your own admission it seems Restus is the nearest but this is conditional to time and day as you say. Therefore I have to conclude that it is not really a stronge rival to Eisley, but simply the second most populated area.

Exactly correct here. 57 days left until all the "returning vets" are gone again.

I love Chilastra so far, my favorite server of them all.
There is a really good guild on chilastra called OC
I am sorry Laterus, my main is a female and cannot serve a Empire that has very little value of women.

SWG needs a server merge so badly it smells. Bria and Bloodfin account for 80% of the 10,000 people playing this dead game.

Yes, Restuss
So if I create a trial account and look for myself I can verify this?
