2 great movies and a little reminder

I just finished watching Flags of Our Fathers and Letters from Iwo Jima and I have to say they would be 2 of the best movies Ive ever seen.

If you can watch flags and not ball your eyes out at the end then you have no soul. Letters is also amazing but its just so brutally unforgiving, your numb by the end of it.

What it really reminds you of though is the good things the US military has done. The sacrifices made on behalf of the rest of the world, when thats really WAS what was at stake. Its enough to make you like Americans again, not that I ever stopped. Just sometimes you have to remember the Government and the people are two different things.

I strongly recommend these films to anyone interested in the history of the last parts of WW2 as I am. They have led me to lots of new reading material etc that is equally as fascinating and moving as the films themselves.

We are very lucky to live in our time and maybe its my acute appreciation of that which allows me to put some of our curent worries in the minute perspective they deserve.

Anyway...just watch em....
