Just got the game two days ago myself. Running a P4 Duo 3.0 G, 2 Gig 533mgh ram, 320 gig 7200 8MB HD, Radeon X1650 Pro 512 MB overclocked to 658MB. Audigy Sound.
I can run the game pretty darn smoothly on maxed settings. Which btw is very very ungodly , the graphics just blew me away. Had it set on balanced and got the wild idea to try max settings, glad I did.
So far no bugs or CTD's. I have only made one toon and he's a lvl 5 ranger. I am notone to chase ranks. I am more than enjoying myself just looking around and doing the quests. I think I will be here for awhile, just for the exploration value.
I have followed VG from day one and was on the fence as to whether or not to purchase it. I had reopened my station account to play EQ2(Which I find numbing right now, though I do like alot of the concepts in the game.
Have had no major problems, have seen a few folks. I will just say as of this moment I like VG, glad I picked it up and will up-date when I get more levels and exploration done.
By this time next year I predict an increasing number of threads complaining about over crowded servers !
By this time next year, Warhammer Online, Age of Conan, and Tabula Rasa will be released...
I guess there could still be overcrowding on the three servers that exist in the US.
By this time next year I'll be 31 and most likely have tried every one of those games.
What 3 servers are you talking about? They will cut down to 4 or 5; about average for most of the MMO's on the market.
Servers
There will be 2 US PVE, 1 EU PVE, and 1 US PVP server.
Thunderaxe, Woefeather, and Gulgrethor would merge into server A PVE Targonor, Hilsbury, and Shidreth would merge into sever B PVE Tharridon, Varking, and Frengrot would merge into sever C PVP FFA Gelenia and Infineum would merge into server D EU PVE For Florendyl we will be soliciting feedback via a poll and discussion as to whether or not the players think it should be merged.

Warhammer is a WoW replacement, Age of Conan is PvP (if you like PVP you will go there) I am a PvE person myself, and honest haven't researched Tabula Rasa
I do not see these affecting VG they may actually help VG but that is just a guess.
It makes me laugh everytime someone says WAR is WOW 2.0...
Anyways, I think Vanguard has the potential to succeed because it is a different type of game than all the upcoming releases.

You can play on the EU server even if you live in the US.
Discreditting and ignoring an entire server or two doesn't make what you wrote true.
#1 I didn't ignore the EU server. Notice I typed, " That's 3 US servers..." as that is what I was specifically referring to the entire time. Yes you can play on the EU server from the US if it happens to fit your time schedule. The small playerbase on a different time zone can be very troublesome for those with regular hour jobs.
#2 As of right now, there is no news on the Florendyl server, so it was omitted from my statement. This is not ignorance.
Reading is your friend.
On a different side topic, from the recent interview at Uberguilds, it seems Vanguard won't be receiving a huge amount of new players for about a year or so. Some of the features are still about a year out, so we have a while to wait and see.
People giving reviews for Vangaurd who have played for less then a few days is like doing a 2 week study on a new drug before it hits the market.... not very reliable/safe.
Example: Talk to me in the first few weeks of E.V.E. an I would say this game rocks, so many cool things, graphix etc etc
Talk to me about a month in.... Training times take forever, no real pve (missions get repetitive), no real character progression (besides skills) since you never hardly leave the ship, tons of farming by farmers for irl cash, etc etc. /cancel account
Give us an update to your "very limited" review here in bout a month. Then let's talk.
I ran out the day that Vanguard was released. I was a little put off by the memmory leak problems that caused me to do what I once called the vanguard stop and go shuffle. But they have done a lot to clear those up. I am a World of warcrack player and recently backed off from WOW d/t bordom. WOW's Too easy... Vanguard is way more detailed in graphics, skills, class, diplomacy... Cities or huge. Grass sways. Colors easy o the eyes, music soothinig. Fist thing I loved was the way you make your characters. Being a silent Sims 2 lover it tickled my fancy the way you could go into detail on eye color, nose legnth-width, body proportions, breast size, clotthes, ect... my kids get a kick out of having me type /picknose, /spit, /handstand...... Since the last update I have my computer maxed out on graphic and don't notice any lag except a little in cities. Built my computer with P965 intel chipset, 2.4gHz core 2 duo, 2 gig DDR2 5400, NVIDA 7950 512mb 256 bit 24 pipes... This game is not for people who like to buy their computers at walmart clearance isle. Awaiting the next patch and holy smoke I am in for a lot of fun. This game has great potential. To bad they released it before it was finished. It turned a lot of people off. I hope they come back and give it another chance.
What are your guys comuter specs and OS and how does the game play for you? I have 2 hard drive 1 XP 32 bit, other Vista ultimate 64-bit. I prefer xp game runs smother. Not vanguards fault. Vista still new. I remember xp when it first came out and it's problems.
As for PVP on this game .... not sure i want to play pvp yet because of when you die they can take your stuff. Bad... no just more of a challenge. When I get better and need more of a challenge I sall switch to PVP. Does any body know if there is relm switching of characters?

That's 3 US servers...
2 PVE, 1 PVP
http://vgplayers.station.sony.com/newsArchive.vm?id=141§ion=NewsIncluding the EU server that makes four. If the RP server isn't merged that would be five.

Wish Darkfall would release.
