Seems that multiple employees anounced different sets of of initial servers in some of the vaugest conflicting manner. This has caused more confusion than fathers day in ****** .For many of us .Can you please clearify.
-no mention on how player made cities (not battlekeeps) will function
-designated role playing because in the conan universe there could "be no roleplaying without the ability to kill your allies, when you kill others you are roleplaying"
sorry im not a employee but that was straight from an interview with the head man
I know but athelon gave a different list. And is being very political not to upset his boss.Seems like Funcom is in an understandable state of chaos atm.
o gotcha, ya i think it just boils down to that they will have PVE servers and some sort of FFA PVP servers and the real question is whether any will be designated as roleplaying
either way im happy, being on a roleplaying server isnt a huge concern of mine
its not that easy.everyone has there own take on it.some are saying the standard servers are ffa-pvp,some think theres different loot rules on rp servers.wth is a pve server.I want funcom to explain, seems like the left hand don't know what the right is doing.kinda scary this close to release.
see your assuming too.RP servers are for heavens gate and waco types imo.
I just need to talk to Gaute and see if it was an official decision I am not aware of or if like I suspect he wasnt saying those are the only possibilities just we will have those.

ive been hearing people say that there will be a ffa-pvprp lootable corpse servers out of this.Athelon says theres a pve server, most are saying thats a standard pvp server. And the main server type in AoC is FFA-PVP.which is usually a variant type of server.I refuse to belive AoC is going to go the shadowbane server setup exactly.
well you get the point. And of course all the guilds are confused what server there gonna be on.I want to be on a server most similiar to a DAoC server where you exit the pve zone(or safe zones) and pvp on the frontier.
So far as I am aware, no one was saying that the standard servers were FFA PvP. What has been said, and this is not an item that has had contradictory reports, is simply that the borderlands, where the guilds will be sieging each other's cities, will be FFA PvP, regardless of specific server rulesets. The normal server ruleset, sometimes called a PvE server, simply means that PvP will be pretty much entirely restricted to the borderlands, arenas and taverns, with the obvious exception of consenting "duels".

It's pretty freaking OBVIOUS that not every single RPVP server aught to have item loot ..........
It also seems extremely obvious that SOME of them should......
I can't imagine them making anyone who wants to roleplay forced to play on an item loot server. I also can't imagine them not including item loot, because it's supposed to be the ultimate PVP game and a lot of PVPers enjoy item loot. Item loot keeps us out of the PVE content , which we hate... but often feel the "need' to do if the items are perma-rewards and that is the only way to attain them.
Thus its CLEAR there will be RPVP server with item loot AND RPVP server without item loot. Unless the people making this game are freaking stupid.....
Well I guess we might find out more after e3.Personally I think they need a spokesperson for this game like mythic does, btw sanya is looking for work.Instead they have programmers, whose typical personality isn't meant for communications activity.who are from 19 different countries, release tidbits of isolated and unclear, contradicting and confusing info.

I think there's a lot more comming on E3, seeing as it's so close to launch it'll be a great possibility to really get some attention.
I agree that many programmers aren't that great at expressing themselves, though I haven't noticed this as a problem with the developers that have made interviews etc from Funcom, but they usually know a lot more about the game than a spokesperson would.. The reason there's so much unclear information I guess is because not everything is decided yet, and having a spokesperson wouldn't help decide things faster. By releasing some different "options" to the community, they also get a lot of feedback which they'll hopefully use to make the game better.
Anyways, a spokesperson would just be going back and forth between the community and developers asking, so we'd have to wait longer for information.
The problem is ,is that they are unsure of things.Yet they release unclear info about it,and worst of all you have 2-3 programmers giving unclear info at the same time.Clear consolidated info is better organized by a spokesperson.I don't believe they are doing a very good job by spouting random tidbits of conflicting info, they could do much better.

I am looking for the same type of server as well. I am a crafter at heart. But still love to do a little pvp every once in a while. But not have to worry about getting ganked while harvesting or crafting.

PVE
-no pvp in most of game world
-ffa pvp in border kingdoms
-sieges, minigames, brawling
RPVP (role playing PVP)
-FFA PVP everywhere except for "hubs"
-sieges, minigames, brawling
-no mention on how player made cities (not battlekeeps) will function
-designated role playing because in the conan universe there could "be no roleplaying without the ability to kill your allies, when you kill others you are roleplaying"

Better four types :
PvP/E (FFA) with looting system, if They decide to implemenate into game.
PvE/P
and RP for bouth types.
