Offsite game currency sellers. Who is best at preventing?

LellLell Member Posts: 45

I'm getting disgusted by the amount of it in Lineage 2. Any ideas who will be the best of the new games to at least try and prevent it?

I know it's impossible to entirely prevent it, but the game that put's the best effort to prevent it will be the game that get's my money.

It is possible to prevent it if you have a game with no economy such as Planetside or CoH. CoH does have Influence Points in which you can trade for Enhancements and Inspirations, but that's it. Since you don't have to save up a buch of influence points to buy some big super item, I doubt you will see people selling Influence Points on ebay.

Is it even possible to sell influence points? in City of Heroes? You would have to be able to Transfer Influence.... right? but that isn't possible.. is it? The only thing you could do is Buy the whole character as is.. Although I dont see any sense in missing out on the creation of a character (which to me is the best part), I'm still Terribly Certain that people will begin to sell thier high level characters ... If it hasn't already started...

CoH has no uber loot or money per say.Only thing i see selling is the accounts. There is no economy to ruin .

It works out great somehow don't ask me why it just does.

I'll never understand the whole buying pixels deal. I mean honestly, isn't the entire purpose of mmorpgs the sense of accomplishment you get from advancing from nothing to being ultra-powerful? Take that away, and what's the point?

Especially with characters, I can understand somewhat the buying and selling of items, though I still disagree with it, but it's like buying FF7 and buying a portal on ebay to the end battle with Sephiroth.

Spoilt brats where there parents give them money to buY characters so they can show off ingame that they have a uber character already or with gold  they can buy uber weapons or armor and show off with itimage

Or those who work dont wanne spent many hours in game but wanne have uber character and say to all there friends look im already lvl75.

You will always have that sort of losers who have to much money or wanne have instant uber character or stuff so they can bragg about it or they try cheat also lot off those peeps they ruin game but they dont care.

After month they stop and go to next mmorpg.

DONT BUY ON EBAY THEN PROBLEM SOLVED

Or you could look at it this way: Some folks playing are a little older and more established, their time is money (proabably quite a bit more than yours) and they don't always have 16 hours to camp a rare spawn (if you can even crack it without the uber guild).  I e-bay'ed a little bit for plat, because EQ was so incredibly time consuming to get into the end-game, and it was basically a straight time-is-money calculation. Add to that half the fun for me was hanging in Kelethin on the trading floor.  Not particularly proud of it but I'd never call anyone else a loser for doing it. Now the guy who invests all his self-worth in a character and insists on calling e-bayers losers. . . I might call that person a loser. . .

It's all relative. I think alot of the new games will be slightly more casual friendly and eliminate the rare spawn camps and items.

well really, if you look at it from a different angle it makes sense.

    its just buying entertainment.
we do it all the time, but for some people, spending 10 bucks on some money ingame will beign them more enjoyment than going to a movie for ten dollars.

Its all being spent on entertainment, its just some people like to spend in on computer games, and some on other things.

Edit: and really who to say its wrong, thats like saying
ha your a loser you bought that shirt, you should have made it yourself like me, lazy, stupid rich snob.

Search "City of Heroes" on eBay.  You'll be shocked at how many people are selling influence and how much they actually have to sell.

A few weeks back there was also an available "levelling service" for sale where you pay them money and they play the game for you.

Not a flame, but one of the reason there are so many Lineage 2 sells, is because the way they set the game up. In order to get money you have farm 1000's of lower leveled mobs to get Adena. To alot of people this is unacceptable, and they drop some cash on ebay instead of spending real life time being bored.

The mechanics of the game makes it this way. Personally if i was lineage 2, i would just offer the same deal as UO did, and sell higher leveled characters for more cash.

You know its a hardcore grind, when even the Korean's are complaining about it.
