Performance Advice

Over the past few months i've seen people complaining about the requirements and performance of recently released or developed mmo's.

I'll be educating you of a few things.

1 ) To play good games you need

a ) A good Processor (1.86 duel core is best)

b ) ATLEAST 512mb (1gb is best)

c ) ATLEAST a 6800gt nvidia.

2 ) Because your rig (Computer) can't run a game it doesn't mean they should optimize the game to fit your needs

a ) Mainly because this would be impossible, better graphics require a better Gfx card to render the screen.

a i ) This is often called Clock speeds (The higher the better)

3 ) And finally, Please think before complaining that your old rig from 3-5 years ago can't run the MMO thats just come out, this is called having low FPS (Frames per second).

4 ) If you really want crisp gameplay ( a HIGH fps) you should buy ATLEAST (1a,1b,1c) )

    OK, I'll offer better advice:

any core 2 duo processor ( which c2d depends on if you are overclocking or not)

any 965P or P35 based motherboard ( you might even consider X38)

2GB of ram (dirt cheap you can get 2gb for less than 80 bucks)

8800 series video card (there is no reason to get anything other than an 8800 at this point.  ATI is blowing chunks and the other cards are not direct x 10 compatabile)

Quality PSU listed in this thread at jonnyguru.com

Case should be something wuth dual 120mm fans for intake and exhaust.

    Well that's odd, my 2nd computer has the following;

Amd SEMPRON (yeah I know) 2800, 1.5GB, 6600GT. This old hector was used for my 2nd acount in DaoC but runs most if not all modern games just fine, thing is I don't use stupid resolutions and I'm not some moron/maniac who sets all video settings to Max, enables HDR and whatnot.

My main is a P4 3.0HT, 2GB, 6800GT which works nicely when I up the settings a bit, however within the next few days (when the new mobo will be available) I'll be switching to the new Asus P5K deluxe, E6700, 8800GTS, 4GB, 2 Raptor 150's and a 250GB dump drive. Gonna have me some fun with that one :)

So no; you don't need a stupidly modern PC to run games, only if you're stupid enough to enable/max all settings.

    - edit for typo -
