I think you are missing the point.

There will not be old servers and new KR servers.  Once KR is actually finished and relatively stable it will be ready for general download.

Once this happens you will be able to play the game with either the "old" 2D client or the new KR client.

The community varies from shard to shard,  it depends on what you want to do.  The larger populated shards all have active communities.  Even the smaller populated shards have active people you just have to find them.

Gameplay?  It is a mmorpg, do whatever you want to do.

Story?  UO has been running for nearly 10 years,  gonna be hard to fill you in on the story.  Although its not that important to the gameplay.  Only roleplayers are really concerned with the accurate story lines over the years.

Just my personal opinion, but the maturity level of the playerbase has declined ever since the game was changed from an "M" rated game to "T" rated game.  But I have encountered jerks in every mmoprg game that I have played, so its nothing exclusive in UO.

Who knows how long it will be around?  When it was originally released OSI thought maybe it might last six months til the players got bored with it.  So who knows?   Any mmorpg can end whenever the company decides to shut the servers down, read the eula of your current mmorpg that you are playing.  But supposedly the bigwigs over at EAMythic have planned out the next 5 years of expansions/additions to the game.  So I guess you could say you have at least 5 years of gameplay left.

There are no levels in UO.  You can make your characters however you want.  Each character can have up to 7 skills with a cap of 100 in each skill for a total of 700 skill points.  You also develop the characters stats: strength, intelligence, dex.  Which can be gained in any number up to a hard cap of 125 in each stat, with a total stat cap of 225.  It can be more complicated than this, but this is the basic character.

Your questions are too general so I gave general answers.
