I want to heal...

I played guild wars for about 2 years, mainly as a healer, but I recently lost interest in playing because they are making a guild wars 2, and since gw2 will probably kill the original gw, I see no points in continuing playing gw1...

But anyway, could someone recomend me a game that :

- i'snt gw or wow.

- has a (or many) healer class and alot of grouping.

- Free trial (or better yet, a free game thats decent)

- Requires some skill to play.

- My computer can run it (1G ram, ati radeon 4200, 2GH

Thanks in advance

Hmm, from the MMOs I've played I would recommend City of Heroes in this case. Of course I'm terribly biased, but let me explain. The Defender archetype is about protecting your fellow teammates. When looking to be a pure healer, one's best interest is to choose the Empathy set. As you can imagine this is all about healing your buddies and boosting all of there stats. There are other power sets that have a single target/AoE heal, but in return have very powerful buffs. Don't worry as even in the "empty" servers it is easy to find a team. Your computer should be able to run it easily too. Now, the game does seems simplistic on the surface, the more you play, the more you realize there is a lot of strategy involved. There are other great MMOs out there I am sure, but in the case of what you are looking for (and I have played) this is what I recommend.

I agree, try COH or COV if you want to be the bad guy. Either way, I think it will be what you are looking for.

And is there some server on CoH with a high enuff population? if so, I might try it, thanks.

The server with the highest population is Freedom, however this leads to high amounts of lag on the weekends, and you may find yourself 'rubber-banding' across the maps. It doesn't happen often but its not unheard of. Virtue is pretty populated too, but you'll find more of the role-playing crowd there. If all else fails try Infinity or Victory.

Really I have not experienced this lag, a little delay on weekends but no rubber banding. I play on freedom COV side, not hero! That may be why. There are a lot less Villains I believe, and heroes/villains don't share the same PVE maps.

thanks alot! I'll definitively try the CoH or CoV trial. Which one do you recommend me? Could you please list the good and bad of both please?

being a healer in CoX takes way less skill then being one in GW. before doing a mission on my monk in gW I remem asking my teams what skills they needed me to bring and it was great coordinating with other monks

In CoX you are locked into like a handful of skills for healing. its a decent game worth trying out for sure but no where near the depth Guild Wars has. played both games to level cap with multiple toons.

alas, at some point one will get burned out on GW I suppose so its good to try other games. hope you have fun. but i do not think GW 1 can die its not like its subscription based

You get to try both at once :) then when you decide which you like better, you purchase it and upgrade your trial account.. you could also buy the good vs. evil edition and have both versions. Their is a monthly fee by the way, its 15$, and the initial game is like 14$ each.

So I'd just try both (corruptor will be the healer on the villain side)

Well, I have both and I like CoH more. If you are still looking to go with the support-class I would take CoH. In CoV, the closest thing to a "healer" would be a Fire Corruptor. That is all a matter of personal taste. In the end, CoH has more 'color' to it and feels more rounded in all. On teams, the ATs seem to fit together better.  Not to say CoV is poorly done, it is fine but there are more zones and in some cases things to do on the Hero side. It is all a matter of personal choice.

Edit: vajuras,  I have never played GW but from what I have read, its healer class does appear to take more practice to master. I myself have a lvl 50 Empathy Defender of CoH and it was not until I respec'd and strayed away from the purist healer build did things start to become a challenge.

id go blue Empath defender. their heals hits way -harder- then anything else. if you rather mix a meager dmg dealing then /thermal corrupter way to go. just keep in mind you wont touch a fire/kin corrupt or fire/rad corrupt in dmg dealing department.

Empaths buffs seriously blow away red side

tryout empathy if you were a monk like me in GW. just keep in mind CoX not like GW it locks you into your sets. so be careful which powers you pick., check official forums under defender cause repecs are rare

but if u just trying it out it might not matter much.

I highly doubt that SOE is that unskilled at efficency that he'd need that high of specs to play it.

I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.
