I'm just looking for someone experienced in the game to join up with. I don't want or expect anything more than an open forum for how do I and Where do I's. The only thing I don't like about UO so far is how hard its been to find information.
If anyone would like a partner in crime, I'm up for coming to you and would greatly appreciate the sharing of information.
(I'm in South Korea, so if time differences would hinder helping, thats the only real obstacle to overcome. Thanks again.)

Have you tried reading uo.com (click on th new player link), uo.stratics.com or uostuff.com
Some good information there, although at each site there is some out of date information, but between the three you shuld find many answers to your many questions.
Yeah, I've tried reading across multiple sites, even googling my questions with no real answer. I can find out what things do...but not where things are so much.
For instance, I want to make bandages, but I can't find out what exactly I need or where to find scissors or skinning knives.
I want to fill up my rune book, but after searching Haven, Yew, and 3 other cities (including the player markets) I cannot find Mark scrolls to save my life.
Aside from questions like that (really simple things I'd imagine) I'd just like a person or guild to hang out with.
Thanks.
Ok will the time difference is a problem but I can answer the questions you posted now.
I have been playing this game from just about the beginning so I think I know whats what.
Ok for bandages, you need cloth and scissors, which you can purchase at any tailor shop. Or you can make you own cloth by shearing sheep (with any bladed weapon you can buy skinning knifes from provisioners)
in the 2D client you double left click on the blade which turns into a cursor which you then target on the sheep (you have to be somewhat close to shear them) this gives you wool(each = 3 yarns balls) which you can take to a tailor shop and use on the spinning wheels, which turns into yarn(5 balls = 1 bolt of cloth), which is used on the looms in the tailor shop, which makes this into bolts of cloth, then double left click on the scissors, get cursor, target bolt of cloth, which turns into cut cloth, target the cut cloth with your scissors again, and know you have made 50 bandages (1 bolt of cloth = 50 bandages)
Mark scrolls well those have to be made by either yourself with the inscription skill or by other players, look around player vendors on your home shard start at the player houses in the city of luna. look for vendors with name/title mage goods/scrolls something like that.
I would suggest registering at uo.stratics.com (its free) and ask your questions in the new player forum there. I post alot there, maybe we could work out a time for me to create a new character on your home shard. Even with a new character I could explain more in game than on here.
Welcome to UO, while there is alot a negativity here and at stractics, I still enjoy this game.
And thanks for the answers, I guess that explains why I could never find a mage shop with Mark stock.
email is in my profile
with marks scrolls yes you can get a inscripter to make you some, but you can also make a mage and then mark it for free without the use of scrolls just reagents. The game is not about how your character is rather the skills each chracter posses . depending on what you do fel pvp etc <-- top notch i recomend uo pvp but i doubt you will get into it until you made at least 50 mil which is a long way off. Ive been playing uo for about 7 years now and its safe to say you will be playing multiple characters since the game is very easy to train chracters.
Most people have
a Dexxer - for spawns/pvp
Mage - for pvp
Tamers - Money Making
Crafter - this is so to prevent trust issues from occuring when you want to get high level items made
mage/necro for doing spawns <-- hard to explain
T-hunters
of course these are just some basic classes you can play theres loads of skills so each chracter can be different and suited to specific rules and your intpretation of fun.
its a bit of infomation overload but ill try contact you on email and i may start a new character to play with you
And go to stratics Ultima online boards and ask there maybe on the shard forums for help.
Normally a few from the community will help you.
Scissors are sold in the tailoring store and to make bandages you buy bolt of cloth or just some cloth in particular double click the scissors and it will ask you what you want to use it on (have to repeat this step twice of you bought the bolt of cloth), then click on the cloth and voila you got some bandages.
Runebooks are meant to hold marked runes, so if you can cast the mark spell (level 6 circle) then target your rune and there you go you marked a rune to exactly where you're standing at. Then you just drag the rune and drop it in the runebook. You cant really rely on buying the mark scrolls on npc vendors, best places are Britan Bank (ask someone with high inscription skill to make you some) or go to Luna the player market square, there are so many houses there and I'm sure one of em would sell mark scrolls. Even if you bought the mark scroll you would at least need to have some skill in Magery (just talk to a NPC mage in the mage shop and you can either type train Magery or single click on the npc and it will give you a list of things you can interact with him) If you dont have any skills in magery and tried to use the mark scroll you will fizzle countless times until you get lucky enough to cast it. (I'd say over 20-50 times at least)
If you want to find people you would really have to be in the city of Britain because many people just sit at the bank and chit chat or do nothing at all, all you have to do is keep repeating your question until someone answers you. Also there are plenty of people there that asks if anyone is interested in grouping up or joining guilds. Get to the city of Britain and it will be your best friend.
I hope you enjoy playing this game, dont let the small things overshadow your opinion on this game, you will get used to it and once you become a better player and understand the basics, this game can be very exciting and fun. Trust me on it. I still would rather play this game over any other MMO's out there. Although I havent tried playing Kingdom Reborn client, I doubt I will want to use it because I'm more into the old graphics and UI.
