To be fair, Sigil didn't go "out of business" within months of it's launch. Their assets were acquired by SOE. What happened next wasn't pretty, but it was hardly Sigil's fault. The game shipped before it was ready. It can't even run on many PCs. It's just not done yet. Maybe we'll get a revamp and re-release.
I think that's just playing with words. Having your assets acquired by another company in the business world either means that you've decided to retire from business or that you've suffered a monumental failure and need someone else to pick up the pieces.
The fact of the matter is, the game isn't going to be re-released or revamped. If it was, it would be a first in the MMO world to do so.
Now that Vanguard is in the wonderful SOE station pass line-up, I doubt very much that we'll see anything grand on the horizon anytime soon. Meanwhile, other MMOs will be released that will draw in the potential Vanguard players making the whole idea of a re-release nonsensical.
I just don't see Vanguard ever recovering from such a disasterous launch...
Sorry your $500 pc couldnt run it on low graphics.
Hahaha
Proof once more that it really is the Vangboi urr guard community that makes ya want to play the game. Good thing I got these dual 8800 sl's and the rest of my pc for 500.
Hehe seriously Serno go back to patting yourself on the back for being hardcore enough to spends hours each day sitting in the same spot grinding out easy greens and blues. (My Hero! )
Dude, I probably log on maybe 1-2 hours a night to play with a friend, I work full time and have a family to take care of, hardly spending hours a night on it numb nuts.

See.. there are different attempts to play a game. This is a s old as mmo's. You have your attempt and V:SoH cant satisfy your attempt. Some people have a different attempt and V:SoH is doing well for them.
Otherwise you should know that SLI isnt supported and if you have a dual core CPU it might be slower on your system then on a single core system. Good or bad.. i dunno. Its fact. And i am playing well on a 3500+ , xt1900gt, which is basically a 500 Euro system.
hahahah, did i read that correct the first two reply's comming from those already maxed out. Hahaha seems i keep telling the truth and its mostly those fast lvl'rs that seem to complain the most, and then to see them use crappy comps like Alienware or Dell, i call that desperate gamers as they think they have great gaming rigs but they seem to be unawere that the only ripof is them buing those crappy over priced and over hyped systems.
And then you have this Topic which also is sooooo funny, i mean do some people even play games or are they just forum hoppers, do they actualy understand they do not have to like a game where someone else might like it. Wonder how long it will take for them to learn this and also to learn to never ever if they want to be gamers to buy rigs costing 2/3/4k which is basicly STUPID as there is no game in the world unless you running a NASA program that will benifith from such machine (oh sure if you're in development) but buying such systems now only shows we have people here unawar nor game history.
Okay Vanguard has issues, Is it performance?, yes in some way's it is but in some way's its effecting others more then some. Is it Vista?, fair change it is in many way's (basicly by looking at the Vista forums we know enought but not saying its only Vista) Is it the 8 series? (same look at the Nvidia forums and again it explains enough also not saying its all Nvidia)) Do we have people that honostly think because they have high end rigs they should be able to play Vanguard mx settings? Unfortunaly as we all can see yes we do have that type of people on forums. Are the quest in Vanguard dull, depence on how one play's the game, lets say one plays the game and grinds himself thru the content or like we see in most cases of these disappointed people is they seem to spend far to much time in these games where they seem blinded that they do not see its their playstyle which will burn them out. Oh yes some quest are very poor but overall if you really hate these quest then there is only one solution STOP PLAYING MMO's for a while and focus on other games or simply stop playing games and maybe some should make something out of their life first . Is sad to see those bashing Vanguard to move to LotrO and to see those people bashing LotrO the same way they did Vanguard, isn't it time for them to really wake-up and either start playing mmorpg or just move on or get a life
I just read someone saying he did not find any lore or true story lines, at first i thought this person was talking about higher lvl, but to my surpise they person told he was only lvl 12 and waiting for it to be told. Which obviously shows all of us who play(ed) Vanguard that thats so untrue as basicly when reading your starters area quest or let me put it this way since i made it to YES lvl 16 (2 weeks after release till currently oooh noeeess a low lvl ) and i have seen like a said a few crappy quest but overall reading them explains allot. Saying people missed that at the lower lvl makes no sense (i can not agrue about high lvl's as i aint there) but like i said one must be very deff or blind to even consider to go for max lvl . Why do i say BLIND, well look at the official support forums and look at all complaints which are mostly from high up lvl's 30/40/50 so why in the hell would people that already seem disappointed pursuit things THEY SHOULD KNOW are not ready yet?

Dude its these Hardcore and Elitits haters who should leave games in the mmorpg catergory. And people that somehow are so blinded to say to those that are playing Vanguard what you just said. Sorry thats Elitist BS aswell Hardcore talk. And then that smal minded reaction of you saying its the Fanboy's guesse some people are so blinded by their own hate they unable to see thats its people like this poster here that acts and reacts like a Elitist Hardcore Fanboy Hater. Lol first learn what a fanboy is before you use those words
Alienware, Dell, or custom-made; where's the dual-core support? Has that been introduced yet?
That's Vanguard's simple dilemma; they made a game designed towards high-end rigs, yet didn't make their game compatible with high-end/modern technology. So whether you've got a "$500 Best Buy Computer", or a $5,000 Alienware with 2 8800's, you're being penalized regardless.
Ironic, no?

seriously who the hell scammed mmorpg in order to get vanguard that high..this game is maybea 4 or a 5 at best.. 7.9 rofl.
I like the game, it's not because YOU dont like the game that everybody should hate it, I stopped playing because the game had such a low population, but the game is nice, had loads of fun on the FFA server, too bad ppl are so much into instant reward like LotRo and the like, everybody wanted a game like the old hardcore ones but when it's released, they want it to be like the existing ones... maybe i will start playing again after the server merge.
I was thinking that too.. I was one of the original public beta testers and couldn't handle playing that forsaken game for more then 30 minutes before wanting to jump off a cliff.. I was thinking mid 5.. or low 6's at best..
Original public beta tester, now thats something. What an honor to have you here, giving us your opinions.

I'm not posting to bash VG or to support it. I just want to point out that VG is not a hardcore game like the old days in any way shape or form. Noone max levelled EQ or AC in a couple weeks. True the world is big but just like AC was for years a huge chunk of it is empty, the problem with that now a days is that people aren't going to put up with long travel times through uninteresting mobs and terrain. If anything VG is one of the easiest games yet released because there is nothing new about it and virtually no customization which leads to no weak builds. Personally I found nothing challenging about the game, no mobs were hard to defeat, no quests hard to figure out, no chance of wearing the wrong gear or spending points in the wrong stat.
Some of us do want a new game with some challenge, maybe even some risk like the old days but that doesn't mean an exact clone of EQ and it doesn't mean a ton of features which aren't fun just thrown in to make the level curve retarded either.

I don't agree with alot of what people say about vanguard. As you can see by my tag i've tried them all, and right now, for my money, vanguard has a "leg up" on the competition. Crafting and harvesting are deep, with some twists.. (i like for foresting rightnow i'm farming tree like mobs- then cutting them up into logs, lol..) and i think it's a terrific game.

Most dual core "issues" are because of the buyer. If you buy a dual core 4200+ and a game says , for example, 3000+ required to play. Know you are running two 2100+ cores and you will have issues. Why this shows up so much more w/ vg then your other mmos, is that vg takes high specks.. know what your getting before you buy
Well , with all it's problems I still rate it well above:- WOW/LOTRO & Guild Wars as far as the game goes which doesn't say a lot for the other games out here or does it !!!
Lots of variety/ 4 totally different spheres to Master along the way ... The Others don't crash but then again they have poor depth and don't hold my attention at all.

7.9 seems about right to me. I love this game, always have. I dont crash anymore, hardly 0 lag unless im entering a town. I love the gameplay, classes, just about everything.
BTW, I mainly solo, I dont group with anyone. I find the game is great if your a solo minded player. That is prolly why alot of people do not like it.
Most of the people that think the game runs like "a piece of crap" are going to think it runs like a hog a year from now if they are playing on the same PC. Some people have some legitamate issues, and this is usually some kind of compatability thing. Software and hardware are a tricky things. Nividia had/ has a part to blame with poor drivers on the 8k series of cards, Vista is an issue for many people, not just people playing VG. The game has some issues with needing to be optimized. Most of the posts you see around here aren't a very fair view of exactly how it's going to run for anyone. The settings you run the game at compared to what your PC is packing is important, and very few people are clear on what thier expectations are. If you're getting 20 fps in an MMO you are doing god for the average gamer. To many people here want 60+ fps, that's not typical. Getting 20 fps isn't hard to do in VG and if you have a PCI-E set up with a decent processor, then you're good. Chunking will get fixed eventually and VG isn't the first game to suffer from a chunk issue.
Tedius yes, complex no. This is crafting. Is there a game that has a crafting system, a true crafting system, that the vast magority of the players find fun enough to invest enough time to fully advance in it? Crafting that matters even? Most of the crafter types I've played with over the years would like nothing more then to have an importance in an MMO, let alone be given something that is fun. Fun by the way is rather personall. I don't find it fun to craft, but some do.
Basic artistic flair. That really made me chuckle. Good one. I would be very careful about making future predictions about what SOE will fix and what they won't. SWG still has rubberbanding issues that have plagued the game since launch. That isn't a hardware issue either. vanguard has some serious problems, especially for anyone with an Nvidia card and Vista. I've read a few semi private blurbs from a dev saying how much trouble nvidia, the company support, was giving them. This was just after launch though. Also saw some tests where people gained 10+ framerate by downgrading to XP.
As for crafting, SWG had crafting people really enjoyed more than anything else. It was the best part of the game for many. Same for horizons to an extent, but that might be due to terrible gameplay overall. I'm sure there are a few I am missing, but those games have very tricky dynamics.
Withing months of its launch, the company that developed Vanguard went out of business with massive condemnation on the lead designer who will now spend the rest of his programming days carrying on his conscience how he cost so many people their jobs. If Vanguard doesn't register as a failure to you, what exactly does? I mean, how hard does a game have to fall and before we all can come together and admit that it is a failure?
To be fair, Sigil didn't go "out of business" within months of it's launch. Their assets were acquired by SOE. What happened next wasn't pretty, but it was hardly Sigil's fault.
The game shipped before it was ready. It can't even run on many PCs. It's just not done yet. Maybe we'll get a revamp and re-release.
I think I am misreading what you wrote, but are you saying that the outcome of sigil/vanguard isn't Sigils fault? I sure hope not.
Another question I have is that I keep hearing people talk about a "re-launch", but I don't recall SOE saying anything about that. Brad Mquaid made some of those comments before getting the boot. Did SOE commit to a relaunch anywhere?

actually this game belongs in the top 10.... 7.9 is below what it deservses
Wow... just... wow...
Someone is on the payroll, or thinks they should be
When you are having fun playing a great and interesting game you don't mind paying someone to let you play it and I have no desire to get back into the computer industry
A MMO is like life. It is something to cherish and enjoy upon in it journey. So why race to the end of it. In life at the end you die.
I played this game to Level 50 as a rogue, second rogue to 50 on the server (Infineum).
In short and objectively: Vanguard is an unfinished product, which has been released at least 1 year too early. The countless bug fixes and content updates show that clearly. There is much content to come still, which normally should have gone into the release version, if they ever add it.
The main issue with the game I have though, and this is actually the only reason why I quit:
Does anybody really think there will be much more money invested in a Triple-A-Title, which dropped just below 50k of subs from a starting 200k, where half a million been expected? If so, this would be a real miracle. Sony has a strong fantasy title, which is EQ2. They gave it a lot of polish and I will be the first cheer when they do the same to Vanguard, but I kind of lost the hope in it, as I see the game far beyond repair.
I wish all who still play a lot of fun with the game, it was very promising and has been a ton of fun between lvl 30 and 40, but after that it is just one faction grind after another. Besides the truth that lots of fixes short after release speak for a flawed product, there is another truth.
Implementation of grinds = Lack of endgame
They are just a method to keep people busy, so they are mostly long, tedious and repetitive. Lucent Circle anyone?
Vanguard basically has no endgame. If anyone calls the VG "endgame", endgame he has never seen a proper done endgame.
I am the first one to be back to the game if they really keep the promises and fix the issues the game has, but this will take some time, honestly.
For now, if you look at the facts VG is the worst combination ever for making profit.
Hardcore geared game, which needs high end rigs to run properly, carrying a lot of bugs, lacking a lot of content.
All those four factors are minimizing the "possible" customer base to almost not existing. What is left are the hardliners and the people who are hoping to just sit it out until the problems are fixed. If you now take into account that the major focus of a company releasing an MMORPG is "money", I realistically can't see a bright future for Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, which once was really the most promising game on the market. At least 1 year before release.
First, we knew it was an unfinished product. They were upfront about it from the beginning and told us it was unfinished. That was never the problem. The problem is that it is still unfinished. Brad has jumped ship pretty much, leaving everyone else in a lurch. It kind of makes a person feel, I dunno.....screwed? That's one problem.
Next, the game has an amazing amount of bugs. It felt like I was a beta tester the whole time, which is expected up to a point, but I'm actually paying to beta test the game. When I'm spending more time putting in bug reports than playing a game, then it becomes a problem.
I enjoyed the diplomacy and crafting aspect and the way everything was tied together. But again, bugs severely hampered your ability to really enjoy it.
Grouping was fine, up to a point, until you tried to move your group across several 'zones', only to find the group disappearing, people getting dropped, unable to join back because it says you're still in a group, getting disconnected while running through a zoneline only to die in some godforsaken corner of the world that you have no clue where you died, so you have to recover your corpse at a corpse stone 2 zones behind you. Yeah, fun stuff.
Sorry, but the game quickly dropped in fun value when you realized the sheer amount of bugs that were, and are, still present in the game.
F for fixed. The game has to fix performance and bugs.
I give SOE an A for aggressively trying to finish and fix Vanguard. It is a very fun game if your system can handle it. You need to get out there and experience the content for yourself. Explore. Try a variety of race and class combinations. I think it is a great game and SOE is going to finish and fix it. I have many frustrations with Vanguard, and I know everyone has something that they dislike about it, but it is the best MMO for me out there. When the game is finished and fixed, I think it can be the best MMO out there.

Stop whining and login so I can kill you!

I don't agree with alot of what people say about vanguard. As you can see by my tag i've tried them all, and right now, for my money, vanguard has a "leg up" on the competition. Crafting and harvesting are deep, with some twists.. (i like for foresting rightnow i'm farming tree like mobs- then cutting them up into logs, lol..) and i think it's a terrific game.Well , with all it's problems I still rate it well above:- WOW/LOTRO & Guild Wars as far as the game goes which doesn't say a lot for the other games out here or does it !!!
Lots of variety/ 4 totally different spheres to Master along the way ... The Others don't crash but then again they have poor depth and don't hold my attention at all.

BTW, I mainly solo, I dont group with anyone. I find the game is great if your a solo minded player. That is prolly why alot of people do not like it.

2x WoW and more then just WOW
Someone really doing his best to be ignorant, or atleast tries to be
As for crafting, SWG had crafting people really enjoyed more than anything else. It was the best part of the game for many. Same for horizons to an extent, but that might be due to terrible gameplay overall. I'm sure there are a few I am missing, but those games have very tricky dynamics.
The game shipped before it was ready. It can't even run on many PCs. It's just not done yet. Maybe we'll get a revamp and re-release.
I think I am misreading what you wrote, but are you saying that the outcome of sigil/vanguard isn't Sigils fault? I sure hope not.Another question I have is that I keep hearing people talk about a "re-launch", but I don't recall SOE saying anything about that. Brad Mquaid made some of those comments before getting the boot. Did SOE commit to a relaunch anywhere?

F for Finished. It was not finished at release.
