Well to the people that think we would all be terran and it would be limited... ever played DAOC? You know how the 3 realms are... Well you can choose a side (terran... protoss... or zerg) and conquer planets and stuff... maybe a MMOFPS like planetside was... or maybe just an MMORPG... you could get diff kinds of guns n stuff... or psi blades / claws in protoss/zerg's case hehe.
As for SC the mmorpg. I highly doubt it, so few ppl are into sci-fi mmorpg's. SWG was probably the best attempt, though it's recieved a LOT of bashing, the most recent patches have changed the game drasticaly, betcha didn't know there was space combat coming up in SWG, and vehicles and mounts now, and a revamped Jedi system.
You mean the vehicle system that was promised on release as part of the original game that they later announced as an expansion before the game had even gone gold that apparently didnt happen yet again due to your statement?
People flocked to Anarchy Online when it came out, Finally a sci-fi mmorg. I was there, I was one of the masses. And we all ran just as fast when we saw how poorly it was being handled and developed. I cant speak first hand about SWG since I refused to buy it because of how Sony was already changing their promises or product before release. And then when they started advertising the preorder on their first expansion before they even had a final game out that was the last draw. But from what I hear, for a company that already had alot of MMORPG experience under their belt they pretty much screwed the pooch on the release of SWG.
I think the problem is the sci fi fans are still waiting for a sci fi MMORPG, cause to date, there are none of quality.
I have read alot of your past posts though Drac and I do respect what you have to say, you do your homework well so I could be way off course with all this. Just my feelings though.

I gotta agree with Drac on this one, that is one of the worsts posts I ever read. Although I will say using AO as having guns for an example wouldnt be my first choice since I never felt they really made gun combat what it should be and its rather cheesy. Its treated as just another attack like you would with a melee weapon, only you have range. The damage isn't on any different scale. Anyways, I don't want to get sidetracked here on a whole other discussion that is best done in another thread. The StarCraft Universe has all the makings for an excellent MMORPG in my opinion just as WarCraft did.

Or perhaps a SC version of World War II Online. Now that might be sweet

Woah, I'm very impressed with all the new posters, for actualy taking the time to read through the forums and read all the past threads and post on those rather than make new topics. Very nice
However, man, you guys are keeping me busy trying to stay recent with all these threads getting bumped lol
Fadeus, been reading your posts atm, since I happen to be posting a the same time you are, so I'm seeing all your posts go up. Read what you said about AO, and you have a very very VERY good point. There arn't any good sci-fi mmorpg's, and I was perhaps way off earlier in saying there's no market for it. I should have said -I- have no interest in it, but I forgot the MASSIVE amounts of sci-fi junkies out there. Of the ones I've tried, it's only Eve, SWG, AO. Eve isn't really an mmorpg, so much as it is a sim. A space sim... SWG I'd say I liked better than AO but man oh man did sony blow it, that game is EMPTY devoid of any real content. It has improved a LOT since release however, but it's still not an awesome sci-fi mmorpg. That and as much as I love star wars, I've never been big on star wars games. Not a big fan of the races-weapons-ships. Though I do love the snow speeders =B
There are hopes for some good sci-fi mmorpgs coming up though. Tabula Rasa should be one you might wanna look into. I've been trying to research it lately, but they still havn't released much on it. Looks a lot like Phantasy Star Online, which was a sci-fi mmorpg I actualy liked, only it needed more content. I love the art style, the combat system, and most importantly the art style... Oh yeah, the art style too, can't forget that.

Seriously, I think it can happen. Zerg you can start out as a larva or something and do a sort of class change at level 10 or something. You can go zergling for an assassin sort of character... hydra for a ranged... ultra for a tank... defiler for a caster...
For protoss you can start out as just a protoss person without any armor or anything... just like a psi sword. Then you can choose zealot for tank... dark templar for assassin... dragoon for ranged... high templar for magic...
For terran you could start out as a civilian with a pistol then go medic for healing... marine for ranged... firebat for tank... ghost for assassin...
And for weapons you could just have different guns for each class IE Marines could have like a Carbine Machine Gun then upgrade to a different kind of machine gun thats just stronger... maybe have a sidearm too.. And protoss could upgrade their psi blades...
Who even needs an item system maybe they could go like City of Heroes and have enchancements and implants probably that sounds like something terran would do.
I've got so many ideas going around in my head im all antsy
I had that problem too and had to tinker with it to get it to take...

I think it sounds like it could be pretty badass.
