How's LOTRO going? Out of town and need update.

Heya folks. I've been out of town and away from my computer for almost two months. I was playing LOTRO a good bit before I left. Anyone care to write about how the game has been going? Any good/bad patches? I'm also wondering how the content is past level 20 or so (I have a few characters at around 20 but didn't get past that yet.) Anyone at max level and still having fun? Bored? Was the leveling from 20-50 fun? Looking forward to playing vicariously through you for the next few weeks until I get home - haha.

Well as for patches you can check the website for that. there has been alot of fixes....and every mmorpg is never finished as there is always tuning going on and you can NEVER please anyone.
Basically you have to try it yourself....I would not go buy a car without testing it myself no matter what my familly or friends say.....for me the game is heading down the right path so far and nothing drastic has changed IMO for the worse.
Anyways you have to just give it a go and try it out again.
I agree with the above poster - in that you need to log in and play it yourself. For me personally, they are changing a lot of things I'd rather they didn't, and the game is losing its appeal as it is made easier and more streamlined. But this is my opinion only, based on what I want in a game. You have to take what you want in a game and weigh it against the game they've given you.
To answer your question, though - at max level there isn't really very much to do and what there is to do you'd need a full team to complete. Levelling up an alt is just the same exact quests in the same exact areas, though the addition of Evendim killed that monotony somewhat, giving you someplace else to quest. However, for higher level players, Evendim just broke our horses and gave us a whole bunch of deeds that we have to grind gray mobs for no XP to complete. And to stave off the wave of flames screaming : "u lvle 2 fast!!!! u r complaning bc u are bord now!!!!!111" (ugh) I am not blaming the developer for this. However, they did make a game in which it was VERY easy to level, I play maybe 10-15 hours a week and have been capped for a while.
However, if you take it slow and/or you are a more social gamer, LOTRO is really great. A lot of friends who play this are having a blast with it, taking their time, making friends, roleplaying, etc. That isn't really for me, I like "achievement." This is a world that will be around for a long time and is going to grow over a period of years. In fact I wouldn't consider it a bad thing that you have this enforced break
I'm taking a break myself right now, fiddling with alts a bit until they give something to do at high lvls that doesnt require a full group and 6 hours consecutive playtime to do 
Gaming? That's not gaming!
That's just people sat 'round in costumes drinking...

Umm.... no. The reason that there are so many positive reviews are because... well... it's a pretty damn good game. I've been playing for almost three months (including beta) and I'm nowhere near bored or anything of that nature. It's not the greatest game ever made but I'm quite pleased with everything. They just added the summer festival which should provide entertainment and a break away from adventuring and crafting. I hope you get a chance to try it again soon. Don't listen to the naysayers.... give yourself a chance to play it soon. You won't regret it. Happy gaming!

It is a pretty damn good game FOR BEGINNERS AND THOSE GETTING INTO THEIR FIRST MMO.
Anyone else prepare to be totally bored if you are not an all-out LOTR fan.

Damnit. Lotro is about my 8th MMO, I am not a beginner at all, and I am not bored, and think that LOTRO is a good game. I am not a big Tolkien fan either....
I must be completely, totally wrong then. Please forgive me, Laiina, Knower of Everything!
(A person at your age should be well able to distinguish between Opinion and Fact. Usually this ability comes around puberty...)

Denial makes one look a lot dumber than he/she actually is.
I think this comment really sheds some light on the mixed reviews (and very polar views) of LoTRO. I was pretty bored with this game. Got to a 20ish level and really didn't want to continue. Created a couple alts, and even that was painful. However, up until that time I really didn't get into the fellowship thing or join a kinship. I wanted to do it solo.
Now that I am part of a kinship and have tried to embrace the more social attitude toward gameplay, I have found the game is much more interesting and much more balanced. I am also a big "achievement" person when it comes to these types of games.... and LoTRO doesn't really have a lot of solo achievement options. However, if you get a few friends together, and you apply the achievement mentality to the whole group, this game is much more compelling and addictive. Working as a group, and making sure to complete the teamwork task assigned to you, has been very satisfying.
The quests are still a bit dull, but they flow much faster when sharing it with others.

I totally agree Laiina I don't see how this game offers anything new to the genre. It is good for beginners though who haven't played wow or games like it cause they will find something new that they haven't tried.Anime art Community
Final Fantasy 7
Well the Wife and I just picked this up. We are moving off of WOW (seem to hit the brick wall on that after 2+ years).
I don't have a lot to say about the game yet (level 10) but for me it's something new in the MMO arena and potentially
something to tide me over for a while. I can't say anything really about the change of the game over the last few months
except to tell you to look into the recent Book 9 notes.

I am completely with you on this. I have played:M59, EQ, EQ2, WOW,Shadowbane, SWG, CoH, CoV, Rappelz, Lineage 2, Matrix Online, Guild Wars, D&D, DAOC, AC 1 & 2, UO, VG:SoH, Horizons, and a few others I forget or tried out(Like the NCsoft car game, Auto Assault). I am definately a vet of MMOs and love them. I am not bored with LOTRO and I am having fun with it still. My main is getting close to level cap but I am not rushing. I am playing some alts and having fun there. The game is polished and enjoyable. I can jump on for a half hour and have fun or do something more epic with a group for hours. I can solo or fellowship. It is all good. I do think it is safe to assume that there are people who have played several MMOs for years who are enjoying LOTRO as well as all those new folks and LOTR fans. I have played since Beta 1.
I think the real problem is that some people who post here are getting burned out on the genre formula in general (just my opinion).
I also agree with DB on the other point. No offense Laiina but how can you "correct" a personal opinion on what they think of a game? I think it is reasonable to assume the poster thinks it is a "pretty damn good game".
Also, I do not believe all reviewers are paid shills. If I were to review this game it would get high marks from me becuase I like it. I used to review card and board games for Scrye Magazine and while I was paid by the mag to write the review I never got anything from the companies to make sure I gave it a good score.
Well sounds like nothing too new - thanks for the comments. I definitely will get back into the game in a couple of weeks when I get home. No chance right now (been living in this tiny rural town in northwest Thailand with no decent computer or internet connection...) Yea I could have read the official boards and patch notes, but usually have more fun with the mmorpg.com forums because you guys actually talk back - haha. thanks again.
