Depends on which screenname I'm using. So I'll have to say rap because I'm a liberal and I think that rap is really good for todays youth and gives a good image for blacks.
Really now? Would you like to explain how it is good for today's youth and gives blacks a good image? Because I tend to see the exact opposite.

as for this stupid voting thing i would have to say metal :P i would have to say that main stream rap takes the least amount of talent out of anything...
step 1) steal some bands main riff and put it through a base.
step 2) find a simile that relates to the youth ( ie. drop it like its hot, party like a rock star, sake it like a salt shaker, ect )
step 3) the rest is image. make people think you are rich, women like you, join a gang and represent, kill rival gang member, and most of all blame white people for problems in the black community.
Because it's freedom of expression, and "art". Come on, get with the times. It's working wonders for this country. I mean, what's a McDonalds commercial without some rap hip/hop? lol
LMAO!
Obviously a product of the cesspool we call the public school system!

Freedom of expression is fine, especially when it comes coupled with at least a shred of decency. I don't see that in most rap music. And I put a lot of emphasis on decency in my life. Call me old fashioned, but I just think it makes the world a better place to be when people look out for each other and try to do the right thing.
At what? Cutting and pasting loops of other peoples music into logic pro?
Some people may find it hard to believe, but some people actually make the music that goes into hip hop. Some of the beats and instrumentals you hear are oginal.
Good hip hop is more then just spoken word over an instrumental.

In the 80's and 90's perhaps. And there's even a few old school types on small indie labels nowadays, but mainstream hip hop? Meh.
Mainstream rock is no better, though. I can't tell any of the modern rock acts apart, other than the massively overrated, and overhyped Evanescence, simply because it's a female vocalist.
Ollld school rap i like...like Run DMC stuff..or really old Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre...yeah they're stuff is silly but it was entertaining and it actually had a beat. Today's rap is fucking trash IMO. I can't understand a goddamn word they're saying, and thats important, since the rest of their song is trashy too (in my opinion).
I like 80's rock..classic rock..ACDC and Judas Priest. I like Death Metal. I like Viking Death Metal. I like anything that has a good beat to be honest.
Mainstream rap today is definitely not a good thing to be playing in public schools..in my opinion.
omg that just pisses me off so bad. they could atleast give credit to the original artist. or better yet make a half decent song. or do what they should and make up there own shit.
and only idiots get their sentence structure wrong when calling others idiots.
You got your sentence structure wrong
Didn't no english teacher of yours never teach you to start your sentences correctly? rule number one of fifth grade language is: do not start any sentence with a conjunction word such as "and"
I hope some day we can all put aside our racisms and prejudices and just laugh at people

Ok, completely ignoring the arguments going on right now...
I like Rock music more than Rap, though I can think of a few rap songs I do enjoy. I identify more with the lyrics and the emotion that flows from a rock song than the repetitive beats and voice-overs within most Rap songs. Some rap has a beat that flows, and I'll happily listen to it, but usually the repitition of "Chillin' in my white tee" or something similar does not make me feel good.
But, rock is not the only type of music I truely enjoy. Exotic music (Ravi Shankar comes to mind, and Kodo), Classical, Trance, Drums and Bass, and Country can also speak to me just as well as Korn or Arch Enemy.
The question should not be "Rap or rock?". Someone can like both.
I do like rock better than rap I think it takes more talent and the concerts are 100's of times better. I don't hate rap though, I actually enjoy most of it. I love Hip-hop because there's an actual melody in it and its not just a base line the entire time. Try listening to Jurassic 5 if you don't understand why I like Hip-hop.
I like Rap and Rock, but I grew up to Rap. I think the majority of what you like can be what you grew up in and your culture. Anywayz there is ALOT of rap songs I can't stand, but I do feel that Rap and Rock is very similar when comparing the right artist, lyrics and sometimes insturments.
