Does anyone know if Mythic is thinking about letting warrior priest use shields? It would be such a bummer if they could only use hammers all the time. I also think it would benefit them a good deal since thier the healer class for empire and could use the extra defense.

That hammer you mention is more than a weapon, it is the weapon of Sigmar, the Patron god of the Empire. For the Warrior Priest the hammer is part of who he is. It's not the DnD concept of clerics not shedding blood, but the symbol of the very god for whom these Priests fight. To not weild the hammer is tantamount to heresy.
This situation calls for a judicious application of elemental psychology and extreme violence
It would almost be as heretical as an orc without his choppa.
