Chris Benoit Found Dead...

Couldn't believe it... Just got done checking my news for the day on google.  Read the article and kind of half passed it off since every article basically got a quote from the wwe website.  But more reports are stating Vince McMahon came out on live TV to announce it wasn't fake and are doing a whole special for him tonight.

Unbelievable.  I'm shocked.  I remember watching some old Japanese tapes of the Pegasus Kid... Thought he was great over in Japan.  I wonder if they're gonna drop that whole Vince is dead storyline now.

That's a shame. I'm curious what the whole story is though. Obviously something was up, since he missed his show in Houston due to a "family emergency", then him and his whole family end up dead.

Such a terrible event. I also want to find out what's going on with this. At first I just thought it was him, but it's not only Chris, but his family. Nah,  somthing isn't right. I hope the police can dig up some more infomation on this.  Bad news indeed.

SportsIllustrated.com is saying its been deemed a homicide, which means somebody other than the people found dead did it, so a murder-suicide is ruled out. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/more/06/25/wrestler.dead.ap/index.html?cnn=yes

Actually you kind of read the article wrong.  Which after reading this makes me feel totally blehhhhh... They're saying it looks like it is a murder / suicide and that the investigation will be treated as a homicide.

The more I'm reading about this, the more I don't want to know.

It's very tragic...I hope that it doesn't turn out to be a murder/suicide...Benoit always seemed like one of the more down to earth kind of people in the Pro Wrestling world.

Well, its always the people you never expect. Also from what I understand, Benoit had not been showing up for doctor visits for some unknown reason over the past few weeks, given the event, im going to say because of mental instability.

I was preety fucking pissed off sunday night when he wasnt there to fight CM Punk, and it was really the only match I ordered the PPV for. But I guess killing your family and throwing your carear, fans, money, fame, and friends away takes priority over showing up for work.

  • It seems like a large number of the pro wrestlers I watched as a kid meet with unfortunate ends. I hope this isn't a murder suicide, Benoit always seemed, I don't know, more sane than the others?

Still, the string of deaths/health meltdowns/legal woes keeps getting larger.

The hammer will fall on this one, this happened right in the middle of the "Mr. McMahon is dead" skit theyve had going on for weeks. I cant believe he had the balls to address the issue personally live at the top of the show.

I haven't followed wrestling in a long time, what exactly have they been up to with the McMahon is dead thing?

I think autopsy results are expected Tuesday. Maybe we'll know more in a few hours.

I haven't been watching, but basically, for the last couple of weeks they've had all this "McMahon is dead memorial" stuff going on...supposedly he got blown up in his limmo on the way home from the show or something.  I didn't know that McMahon came onto the show and talked about it though, at least he realizes that some things are more important than a stupid plot line.

The late Sherri Martell just died and now Chris Benoit?  Damn, that sucks.

There's been several rumors and reports.  Here are two i've read so far.

    • Chris Benoit's wife killed their son by suffocating him with a plastic bag.  Chris Benoit then killed his wife, and hung himself.
    • Chris Benoit killed both his wife and son, then himself.

I can see it now, someone paid a fortune for cable TV and after seeing how shitty WWE is went over to Benoits house with an axe. On breaking through the door Benoit fought valiantly giving a few "I've been banging your wife!" slurs as his attacker pretended (badly) to act insulted. Benoit then took a fold away plastic chair and beat the guy onto the fllor then mocked him some more, with comments about how great he was and Benoits wife shouting out "INNNDDDEEEEDDDDD!" from the kitchen.

Then the attaker despite looking totally beat crawled towards the wall and draged himself up before he was counted out, he then took the axe and chopped Benoits head off and started singing "You suck, you suck" as he held aloft the head (with its startled expression) by the hair. He then proceeded to finish of the rest of the family.

Now that's the story I read in a British newspaper called the Sunday Sport, I'm not certain it's true but it's more believable than 99.9% of WWE wrestling matches!

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience"

A law enforcement official close to the investigation tells The Associated Press that pro wrestler Chris Benoit strangled his wife and smothered his son before hanging himself in the weight room of the family's suburban Atlanta home.

    I'm speechless.

That can't be. IS that really how it all went down?

According to the investigation it seems to be all too true. As I've said on another forum, I'll always respect the sacrifices he made in the ring, but as a person his image has been forever tainted and I'm not sure I'll be able to look at a Chris Benoit match/interview the same way again.

This whole thing is just so surreal.

Couldn't believe it, I'm from Calgary and as you might know certain people in the industry that have connections to Calgary and the Hart family seem to have a lot of bad falls, no pun intended, R.I.P. Owen.  Davey Boy and now Chris, crazy crazy stuff.

Yes. That's how it happened. The man killed his entire family and then himself because he ODed on Steroids (it caused a crazy rage to build up inside of him and he took it out on people he loved the most. Some crazy stuff steroids can do to you, man.

People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.

  • DraenorDraenor Member UncommonPosts: 7,918

Are they officially attributing it to steroid abuse now?  The last I heard it was a possibility, but not cited as the primary cause.  In any case, it's such a shame...like I said, he always seemed like one of the more down to Earth guys, this is just another example of how steroids ruin lives...all you have to do is look at the other pro wrestlers who have died from complications, as well as numerous NFL stars who have as well.

  • The last report I read said they found steroids in the house, but did not cite a link just yet. They are categorizing this as a murder suicide.

So far, they say the wife died first by strangulation on Saturday (there were signs of struggle also). They say the son was smothered some time Sunday, and Chris Benoit hung himself with his gym equipment, possibly as far as a day after killing the son. The deaths being spread out is a really bizarre thing in a murder-suicide.

Given these facts, I'm tempted to think he and his wife had some kind of argument and he snapped and killed her in the heat of the moment. Then he probably went crazy with what he did and killed the son as part of whatever was pushing him after killing the wife. After that, he probably killed himself to escape it. That just being a running theory of mine given the facts. I can't even imagine what was going through his mind.

I'd heard that they had some marital problems about four years ago, with the wife alleging abuse and wanting custody of the son and a divorce, but they patched things up.

There's no telling what could be the cause. Steroids probably didn't help, I've seen people go insane on them. They make people angry and paranoid. Still, I don't think that steroids alone would have caused this, just helped the slide into madness.

  • SigneSigne Member, Newbie CommonPosts: 2,524

I was wondering about the steroid thing, too.  Geez, the more we find out about them, the scary they sound.  There was something about a boy in NJ when we lived there a few years ago who went berserk and nearly beat a teacher to death.  It had been something like the third aggression incident with possible steroid implications that year.

It seems that Chris Benoit died due to having alot of weight on his mind................................

That's highly the most messed up thing in my life. Why his family, why himself. I have never been one to understand suicide, but If this all happend how yall say then It's a shame. I can't respect this famous wrestler for this...
