One of the major Norwegian newspaper made a visit to Funcom HQ where they are polishing the game for release this fall.

They interviewed the director and besides some ingame video they interview two of their strike teams persons or subteams as they called it. One that has the 60-80 levelrange responsibillity and the other that has the 1-20 + later the soundengineer that showed how he was using a tool to script sound to the different movements of a spell.



(They said that 1-20 would be very storyline driven.)

 

The striketeam person that populates dungeons with items and npcs shows how an npc have a range to discover the players. The circle with 3 colours (sences or viewcon) that you see are: Yellow: visual. Greenish: hearing and the red is smell. So to not be seen you have to avoid this range

You can also see a bit of the work done with dungeons and stuff. That is done in 3d studio.

They also told that the game had been in developement for 4 years now and that Funcom has people in 3 countries working on the game: Norway, USA and China.

They have also received several hundred thousands of Dollars from the Norwegian government to support the development.

I think the other interesting news for today is that Funcom secured an extra 30 million in funding for Age of Conan, which should bring that investment total up over the 50 million mark. (I could be off, only info I have is the 28 million they got when they went public, and I have no idea how much was dropped into AoC)

In any case, this should put Age of Conan into the elite of the elite when it comes to funding.
