Continue Coh?.. or..

Hi guys, im currently playing COH. I'm thinking of switching to FFXI and sell away my COH + my acc. Im thinking of doing this becoz CoH IS getting repetive and i'm getting bored. I'm wondering if FFXI is the same or is it a whole new experience?.. Anyone who played both care to comment? Which one would last me longer?.. And more fun? :D..  I'm thinking of getting City of Villains when it comes out, but it's like.. 6 more months, i don think i can stand 6+++ months of boredom.. =)..

Wonder if people would actually buy CoH accounts .There is no money or whatever. Then i popped into ebay and there it is someone actually bidding $60 for a level 21 and its a new auction with 4 days to go.Strange considering level 21 takes less then 2 weeks to get.

That and the fact that the game's accolades is that leveling 1-21 is actually fun to do.   I can't imagine there's much of a market for an account.  But then... I've never understood why anyone would pay someone to play a game for them.

COH is more crepeditive than most MMORPG's.  This is why I always have accounts on at least 2 MMORP's at one time.  If one gets boring I take a break and play a different one.  I eventually come back and enjoy the game again.

I'm getting bored rotten of CoH after a week too, I wish all these MMORPG's had a 7 day trial for you to have a play on first before you spend your cash. I was really looking forward to CoH, but I just find it too limited in terms of gameplay + community really. I'm thinking of perhaps AC or FFXI myself to see if they can keep me occupied until EQ2 comes out.

Yes all games witll get repetative eventually, it's just a case of how long it takes, so far CoH has been the one that bored me the quickest.

At least the combat in CoH is fun. If you got bored in CoH wait until you play FFXI, you will be ripping out your innards and using them for hool-a-hoops when you get admited to a mental hospital for boredom.

Of course that all depends if your prime reason for mmorpg is combat, in which case just get rid of the controller + defender classes in CoH as they are reallly bad in solo battles.

I suppose I just found CoH just to be a 3rd person arcade game, as opposed to a proper MMORPG.

lol, I played FFXI from beta up to 1 month and a half ago and Im playing CoH right now.  If mmorpg were vehicles then CoH is a Jaguar compared to FFXI's Geo Metro.

If you think CoH is repititive then you're going to be suicidal within the first week of FFXI

I have to agree with a few posters here.

To me FFXI is a tasking game. Not only is it extremely time consuming (not in a good way), its exhausting and stressful. I spent many a time looking for groups (most classes require forced grouping past lvl 12), trying to recoup lost levels and experience, gathering up enough funds to afford goods sold in the auction house, or just working with the user interface. Its really your decision, but at least you have more info to go on  than I did.

FYI-I played the game to lvl 27. Why? I had friends convincing me not to quit until they did. They all quit eventually.

To each his own i guess.I like CoH .For me its 100 times more fun then SWG which was my last pay to play retail game.

Also i have played quite a few mmorpg and not since DAoC have i seen so few people not moan that they are quiting after the first month.CoH is coming to the first month i think.

Besides whats wrong with the community?I have yet to meet an immature or rude player in my time there.Or have i been extremely lucky?

FFXI offers quite a bit with missions and all... But after 2-3 months you'll find it's just a boring level grind....

Right now i have CoH as well.. It's pretty fun if you just go on for maybe an hour or so a night... But i'm really just playing it until EQ2.

I thought FFXI was much less repetative than most MMOs actually.  They had a good quest/mission system, along with a good story.  So you didn't always have to level.  There was BCNMs, missions, quests, crafting, and alot of other stuff to do.

The problem I had with the game was that soloing was impossible.  It wasn't too bad until i got 50+, when the 4 hours a day I could spend on FFXi a day wasn't enough, because it sometimes took 2-3 hours just to find a party.  Even with my level 46 Bard I had to wait sometimes hours for a party.

And the PvP they implemented was just sad, heh.

i am in the exact same predicament as you, i too am finding that coh is gettin real boring. The only thing that is really shyin me away from FFXI is the price which is a downer but not a really big deal but the thing is if it sucks thats money i'll never see again but it looks amazing. I'd try FFXI if you are really tempted to like i am and pretty much everyone i talk to either says they love FFXI or they hate it so it depends on what u like. I would also like to know which game i should get the ps2 version, i already hyave a router thats compatible and the network adapter , or the pc version i really don't care i just want the one that runs the smoothes and looks the nicest graphics like everquest for ps2, the expansion is really appealing to me so that would be cool.

guys, there are so much more out there besides CoH and FFXI...lol. I dont really like CoH but my wife loves it. We both hate FFXI.

FFXI is kinda nice with the missions and the quests..I do have to say that and the Japanese players are very nice and cordial (opposite of the majority of Chinese in Lineage ][. However, there comes a point in your FFXI mmorpg life where u do have to venture out and level....and thats where the downfall is. The timesink is just too crazy and the forced grouping issue is a big downer.

Try other games other than CoH and FFXI....

My advice is to play Lineage 2. Thats the only game I play right now, and even though, as a noob, its a grind, the upper lvl people I've talked to say that it's worth it, if you want more proof, dl the e3 lineage 2 movies that feature Anthras the dragon, if that isn't something that isn't worth seeing...i don't know what is.

Best thing to do is NOT switch to ffxi because it is more boring than anything on the market

  • FlamingBoiFlamingBoi Member Posts: 206

I cancelled COH other night, level 16 controller, level 12 blaster. But im not selling. This game could be a real masterpiece down the road. I am going to wait for City of Villains. Thats more of play style anyways, "muhahaha".

Seriously though, you wouldnt be able to get much for it. And who knows they might add some content to it that you really like. Like i said im hanging on to it till Villains comes out. Then if the pvp is good, im reactivating.

another downfall to FFXI, sure the japanese are nice, but the language barrier is too large, its no problem for an experienced JP player to help you with something quick, but if it requires a decent amount of teamwork good luck trying to cross the language barrier...honestly i suggest that if u pick up FFXI, you should keep your CoH account cause you'll need soemthing else to do once your 50+ when u could go days w/o finding a team...i havent canceled my FFXI account yet, but CoH is a nice CASUAL diversion to FFXI (oh btw be prepared to be hardcore or u wont get anywhere in FFXI)
