It was too quiet yesterday

Yesterday I was disappointed in the lack of conversation, it was nice that the trolling and arguements were kept at a minimum though. So whats up?

I'll start. Im nervous, Im moving to cali with the wifey in 10 days. Its more expensive out there but we can both get jobs and survive. I will be starting school again in the fall, changing my major to marketing because programming is boring as shit.

It has been really quiet for about 2 days to me.

I usually post in OT and the Guild Wars forums, but GW didn't have a single new entry in a day for the first time in I don't know how long and OT had nothing rolling at all.

To tell you how slow it was, and please dont ban stick me, I actually looked in the Pub to see if there was anything to discuss.   I know, I know....I am an idiot thinking there actually might be intelligent discussions in the Pub but I had to do something.

Defenestrate...Cali is awesome, I love it here and I am sure you will too depending on where you choose to take up residence.  My wife just got a decent job and other offers as well, so there seems to be a pretty good job market currently.  Don't be nervous it is just another step in life, have fun with it or you will explode from stress.

    Good luck man

eeep! So, were they all still angrily comparing everything with WoW and wanting someone else to tell them what kind of game they would like to play?

Turn back, there is no more gold in those hills. OMG I am so happy to not live in CA anymore. Talk about a state that just drains the lifeblood out of its citizens. Heed my warning naysayer.

Well, anyways good luck hopefully everything works out for you and your wife.

P.S. I am just messing with you....

    or am I?

In America I have bad teeth. If I lived in England my teeth would be perfect.

I want to move to California too, or somewhere on the west coast with a much cooler climate.  But I checked into California very seriously, and I wish the best for you, but I found that to not be an option.

The cost of living there is horrendous.  I checked your profile and it says you live in Dallas.  I live here as well.  I can live in Dallas very comfortably making $35,000 or a little more.  You could not even begin to find a semi-nice apartment with that income in California.

It's a pretty state and I want to move there more than anything.  But I just found it to be unrealistic.  I want to retire someday soon.  Not work for the rest of my life.  I put a lot of money into that retirement investment and I'm looking for age 55 or younger even.  No way I'm going to let that be taken away from me for an overpriced apartment and a lifetime of work.

Check out this cost of living calculator and you'll see what I'm talking about.  It's not just a little difference, it's a whole lot!

    cgi.money.cnn.com/tools/costofliving/costofliving.html

    Salary in Dallas TX:

    $35,000

Comparable salary in San Diego CA:

    $54,725.25

If you move from Dallas TX to San Diego CA...

    Groceries will cost: 17.005% more
    Housing will cost: 200.349% more
    Utilities will cost: 11.803% less
    Transportation will cost: 9.162% more
    Healthcare will cost: 18.256% more

You could take that extra $20,000/year and put it in an investment fund and you would retire in no time.  That's my plan!

    Exactly!

My husband and I are trying to move out of here too.  It's just too expensive.

I have family that live in San Antonio and they make just us much as we do with the same education levels and pay nearly half of what we do in living expenses.

The area is nice, and I'll miss the scenery, but they need to do something about the cost of living here.  Everyone in this state complains about it.  Just post on a California message board somewhere and you'll get the warnings.

I'm looking forward to actually owning a house someday, but that ain't happening here.

    =============================
    It all seems so stupid
It makes me want to give up
But why should I give up
When it all seems so stupid
