Space, ships, etc...

Ok I know someone's going to ask this eventually, I might as well be the first.

Ok now I know we will not have personnal ships in the game at it's initial release.  From what I understand, Atlantis is garunteed in the first expansion SGW.

Now than for my question, now seeing that in Atlantis and SG-1 for that matter in later seasons, space exploration via ship and combat seems more prominant.  So in the expansion can we expect to see the uses of space gates, personnal space craft, and possibly guild constructed Capital Ships?

And yes I'm already aware that from what I've heard that there'll be space based missions in the games initial release.

Thank you for your time.

I myself am quite interested in this question. I'd like to add a few of my own:

    1. What type of Space Combat might we expect? As in, Twitch Based (Such as SW:G's JTL) or a more RPG based space flight (EvE, perhaps)?

2.How might ships be attainable? Quest/space profession reward, or would they be craftable to a certain Profession?

    3. Finally, will your faction affect what ships you are able to fly?

Space flight is obviously very prominent in Atlantis. If we did do an Atlantis expansion, it'd be pretty silly for us to not include something to do with it. As to what that is, that's waaay too far off at this point. But I'm sure it's nothing to worry over. There's so much cool stuff in front of it! Got to buy that first before we can even talk about an expansion!!

Indeed,  for if the game does not sell well enough then there would be no need for talking about a expansion

that being said  That would be awsome if there was ships in game with a expansion   but at the moment don't worry about the ships  worry about getting the game done and with as few errors as possible

Somewhat like SWG's JTL expansion, but then with capital ships, F-302s or something more like a Puddlejumper for transportation/combat.

You could go either way, it's a vast universe :D

I think Ships would work well with the game. not big ships so much but stuff like puddle jumpers  would be perfect not only for fun but quick movement around a planet for a number of resons

As far as I know Planetary content is a priority for this game and Space exploration second. I think it will depend mostly on what people want, but I can see personal ships being added into the game if not that definately guild ones, or mabye ones you get to use from a faction that you pick. They did mention in order to access some planets you will have to go there by ship and no stargate so some form of space ship system will be in place.

Lets hope this game doesnt take as long as Star Trek online to release.
