As of right now, I am looking for a new MUD to play. I am basically looking for one that has a decent size, active community . If anyone has any recommendation I would really appreciate it.
Thanks

I've never played a MUD before...Are these like the very old-school text-only games they used to have back in teh Atari 800 days?

Well, Text or... very low quality pictures. Multi User Dungeon.
Go to Mud Connector and check the listings.....
You can also check Top Mud Sites and The Most Popular Sites Mud listings.
Clandestine used to be huge, now it's down to around 60-120 players on at a time. Definately fun, though I haven't played it in about 2 years.
I have been playing ThresholdRPG for the last 8+ years, it's a mature, RP enforced environment, with great community. Check it out.
I would give Dragonrealms a shot. Been around awhile descent sized player base.

I used to play Shadowgate www.firedragon.com/shadowgate/ back in the day. I remember it being quite fun (based on the old 2nd edition D and D rules). Amazingly they just recently upgraded their website so it doesn't look like a 10 year old made it with his Geocities account. Give it a look.
there is

its pretty fun, I play it every now and then

I recommend Achaea or Imperian for the ironrealm games. Both are very good, and also have a very large community...especially Achaea. I like them, I play them once in awhile too.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions! Over the past couple years I have forgotten how much fun it is to play a MUD.
Thanks
