Anyhow you always have the capability on multi-char. Though i prefer the Chosens i will create a lot of alts to explore WAR. It's nothing about anti female bias in the lore; i bet we will meet a good lot of Orcs with a girl behind it. It's just the flavour of the Greenskins, i dare to say a way of life and an unique weltaanschaung concerning it as a whole. Orc once, Orc forever!
I like the fact that they dont have females for chosen or orcs. Its Mythics game and GamesWorkshop is guiding them making sure they try and stay true to the lore which is awesome. Its there game, they are the ones making it and it has been stated that if some people arent happy with the way it comes out, thats fine.

Fair play to you for the German epistemological turn of phrase, mate.
This situation calls for a judicious application of elemental psychology and extreme violence
This isn't really much of an issue. Most girls who play probably either play a male on purpose to hide from lil boys("r u a rl grl?"), or play a female and want them to be cute, or have zero hang-ups and will simply play what they find looks cool. I applaud a game that has lore and sticks to it. It creates flavor in the world rather than stale lameness like giving both sides in WoW shaman and paladins.
Same goes for people who want pure healers. If you want that, or want to play a female orc, go find a game that fits that(there's at least one already out there). If you want to swing a lightsaber, play a cat, etc, go shop around.
As for worrying over "too much focus on war", meh... I think there is plenty of depth to the world just from what I've seen of the podcasts, hints about the crafting system, etc. Yes. The focus is war. It should be. You aren't wearing armor and toting an axe because you want to deliver pies for a living. Are you?
to clarify, i dont think the game is anti female due to not beeing female orcs. I got this after talking to the GF and her friend, both skilled WoW players of a heavy raiding types. The game dont appeal to them, even tho they are both bloodthirsty as heck, shoudl hear them in pvp! Its the way the game is brought forward, I dont think its good to just yell its War war war! nothing else, war war war. You need to bring out the other aspects to fill out the game with all types of players.
But I do love fanbois who flame without reading whole thread. makes me feel all fuzzy and warm that they spend time to flame me. Im special!
The reason why there are no female Orcs in WAR is because WAR sticks to it's lore. It's the first MMO where story is really important! Hurray!
What really concerns me is that you want to drag things from your old game to your new game. WoW is generalised for the masses. It's polished to prefection to sell the most copies. An example of this is female orcs. But Warhammer actually has story and symbolism, and all that poet BS. If you don't like it, don't buy it.
Same thing goes with RvR. If you don't like war, don't buy WAR. The Devs themselves have made that clear. I like their honesty.
Duggage, I'd just like to say, too fecking right, mate.
Zertyr, I see your point as well. However, and this is not fanboi speak. In fact, I don't know what sodding 'fanboi' is? Is that like a gothboi? Is it a fan with a small penis in a dress?
I digress. I have a wife. She likes the idea of WAR and loves RvR. She looks forward to the game. You have a GF who doesn't seem to like the idea of the WAR game. No appeal. I say the solution is simple: you won't be playing WAR, at least not with her. I mean, come on, she is the owner of the ONE thing that you must obey....it rhymes with FAGINA. If she doesn't seem keen on WAR then you won't be playing, mate. Deny it all you want, but we all know how these things turn out in the end.
Bloodthirsty your female acquaintances may be, lad, but in the end it all comes down to personal tastes. I've seen my wife Kirk out in a game of DAoC and refuse to log out until she'd taken an enemy occupied keep even if she was the last member of her realm in the region. She'll run 3 or 4 trebuchet simultaneously until a keep is rubble. But if a game doesn't appeal to her then it doesn't appeal to her. I'd like to see you and the GF come over to the WARHAMMER way, myself. I think that WARHAMMER is a superior setting for a myriad of games and look forward to WAR. It's not that WARHAMMER is all about war and therefore lacking in other aspects or that if you don't like it you aren't bloodthirsty, it is simply that the hobby from which is the MMORPG sprang (being RPGs) is a market primarily dominated by adolescent males and men, like myself, who are still fairly sophmoric in our choices of entertainment. I don't know the whole story here. It could be that your GF isn't a huge MMO fan, she just really likes playing WoW style Orcs. If such is the case then you'd be hard pressed to get her interested in any game that did not have that same component to it. Like WAR.
There is always bribery. A box of chocies and some jewelry go a long way to getting your way.
This situation calls for a judicious application of elemental psychology and extreme violence
Zert... Do your gf a favor. Go do some googling of the issues that concern her. If she wants to make sure there will be crafting, google "warhammer crafting", etc. I think there's a post on these forums about just that. Do your homework- but realize that there are a number of game concepts covered by an NDA and you won't get 100% of the answers without getting into the beta or waiting until the NDA comes up. You also have to realize that they need to save some juice for marketing pushes. I'm not being a fanboi- I'm explaining business practices. I'd love full details of a crafting system just as much as you, but pacing information is what help maintains hype.
I'm not going to tell you my life story, but suffice it to say that my expectations for what I'm throwing my money at are high and if they aren't met, then my money walks elsewhere in search of a game that suits my style. My wife also has a say in it, so I have to make two people happy.
As an aside, just because people disagree with you and happen to be on the argumentative side of the game maker does not make them fanbois. Your speculation about "anti-female" was both dubious and perhaps a bit of flamebait- especially if you don't actually hold to the opinion you posted and you wait for pages to reveal such.
I think the topic question was answered readily enough- orcs won't be female. It's a lore thing. Your sub-topic... like I said- go look stuff up. If you still can't find convincing evidence then you either have to wait for more info releases or decide that the game isn't for you. And that's okay. FPS'ers aren't for everyone. Neither is solitaire, Civ IV, etc.
The reason there are no female greenskins is because there are no male greenskins either. There are just greenskins, basicaly fungal spores from outer space came to the world and took root in damp places, caves ect.
Well you can't deny that Greenskins don't look male.
They don't look androgyn at all... Squigs maybe, yes ^_^
But both Goblins and Orcs look very very VERY male.
AND they call themselves "Da Boyz"
I can't deny that lots of things don't look male, that doesn't mean they are male, know what I mean?
Anti-female ? Didn't you hear what the others were saying ? Greenskins are neither male nor female, they are both, or no sex at all. This mmoprg is inspired by the Warhammer tabletop, they don't have female greenskins there, so why should they have it in the game ?
Breasts and hips define a woman... breasts are used for feeding young that have been produced sexually, the wide hips are used for giving birth to a child that has been produced sexually. The typical female form is not required for orcs as you have read.. they are A-Sexual, To survive they need to be brutish and strong... the body is muscular, the frame can tower over men of the imperium... yes this breastless, hippless, wide shouldered, muscular brute is seen as typically male... but for a creature that does not have young to feed or to give birth too what is the need of typical female features?

Normally I find myself agreeing with you, mate, however this time I'm not so sure. Sexual dimorphism is not so clearly evident in all species. Only mammals have breasts. Of course you said woman and not female, so you may have me out on a technicality.
Let's say that physically, amongst humans (where the term Woman applies) breasts and hips, the presence of a vagina and not a penis (sexual dimorphism) do define woman over man. But does that make her a Lady? Suggestions of transvestitism aside, the concept of gender identity vs sexual identity is a strong topic for arguement today. If a female human mammal choses to dress like a man, have sex with women, and live like a man, does that make her a woman or a man or what? From a gender standpoint said female is, by choice, male, but from a strictly biological standpoint is female. However, she would argue that she is no woman and certainly no lady. (I'm actually speaking from experience...I've known many people in my life that do not fit the societal norm.)
The same is true of certain men I've known. But you are absolutely spot on about Orcs not requiring the typical female form. They only look male by default really. What they look like, and I might be going to high concept here, is....Orcs. Like frog legs taste like frog legs. They do not taste of chicken. People say that, but that is not true. They taste of what they are, it is simply the human making a comparative analysis based upon available knowledge (and prejudices). Let da Orcs be Orcs fer Gork's sake.

Incredible response mate... I really dont know what to say..... all I want is warhammer to be warhammer and not give in to people who are not fans or/and know very little about it. If we tried to please everyone ... we would fail.

Thx for the insight.
I absolutely agree 100% on that note. I like Warhammer, I want Warhammer. Can't make everyone happy, let's at least make the Warhammer fans happy.
