i know it's not quite an MMORPG...it's an MMORTS but it does have a persistant world...and OB is supposed to start sometime this month (it said somethin like the 5th last i heard but i doubt it, seeing as MMOSite just had a beta key giveaway for it...) anyways, i got a key from MMOSite's key giveaway and played around with it today...it's definitely worth looking at...i'm really not sure how much they want leaked so i can't tell you much...but i think it's safe to say that i got a key from MMOSite...

Open Beta just started today for those that are interested. www.playsaga.com/
I played the open beta for a few hours and it is definatly interesting.
There is no montly cost but payment works a bit like collectable card games. You can buy booster packs (E2,95) which give you common/uncommon/rare units which you can use in your armies when questing/pvping but I don't yet know if you must buy them in order to advance far in the game. Units can be traded on the auction house for other things which you can earn through quests though.
Took me some time to get used to cause it is totally different then the mmorpg's I played.
Definatly gonna play some more
It is interesting but imo not the most user friendly or newb friendly enviroment.
You start of picking a side and have likfe 25 archers and 25 light inf. After that u can access booster packs on website (First 8 free i think).
Trouble is most of your booster items are 1 barbarian, 1 paladin etc etc. So your army is small. U can trade these card for card like but u only get one booster a day.
I am lvl 7 at the moment and have 25 archer/light inf. My other bits are pieces are only 1 of one and when some quests have up to 6 armies coming at you all full to the brim it is nigh on imossible to complete the quest. Unless the quest is run around and survive for 5 mins.
Up to now the only way i think u can get new armies is through trading and booster packs. I might be wrong as only playing for last 24 hours.
It has potential but i find the AI too hard.
the concept is good same as dream lords an mmorts however I find it plays like crap. extremely low ability to micro units just formations etc to much attack move and not enough micro. I prefer to be able to micro individual members within a unit as they are targeted etc. I personally feel dream lords is a lot better than saga however dream lords suffers from the same low micro ability but not as much so as saga. If they could combine this concept with the playability of say war craft 3 then it would be a hit IMO. I love having your own world where you develop technologies / resources for your battles and not make resources within the battle its a neat concept just hasn't been done up to standards least thats how I feel.
I'm enjoying the game and I'm up to level 4, it seems that as you get more things built up the army situation will become better...but thats why they put in the mutliplayer attack missions so you can invite others to help you, kinda like raid w/ a rts flare to it
The game really reminds me of tribalwars but with a 3d environment and more action
hehe, I thought that too but when I invited my friend for a quest, we only received half of our CP which means that we could only use half our armies
btw, the game is made by the lead programmer of starcraft, brood wars
Lead programmer and lead designer are two wholly separate positions. Don't think that because he was the main code writer that he was also the main game play designer as well.
I'm still waiting on my serial key.
I've logged in and played several times. It's a bit frustrating but interesting. It seems though that my troops are total crap compared to all the enemys I engage.
I got mine after 3 or 4 hours but my friend received 2 serial keys, so I guess you could register twice with 1 email adress
You can get free boosters at the website which gives you extra units
no shit sherlock, maybe that is why they have different names
I am currently in too and enjoying it even with the recent problems. I like the fact they will reward beta testers with packs they buy during beta (buy one get 2 after release). The learning curve reminds me of Eve Online when I started that, hopefully they will come up with a more streamlined tutorial before release. Also, the game is more polished coming right out of Alpha than most games I have tested over the years. There is room for improvements, but overall a very good game with potential.
Could someone clear up whether this game is started by a player in different games/servers or is just one big world?
The game is not started by a player. They have their own servers, which definately need some work. I get a lot of CTD which are normally caused by loosing connection to their "databank" server. Think that's what they call it. It's still a pretty cool game.
If you have no patience for beta testing, then don't download the game. If you decide to try it, be sure to read up on the game first.

The game has potential. The quests are many and rewarding. You have to have patience to play the game though. Building your city takes time and effort. The only downside for new players like myself at the moment is they are having problems with the data servers and the game keeps disconnecting. It's a teething problem and they are aware of it.
When people say this game has potential what they really mean is its fundamentally flawed and you shouldn't waste your time on it.
----ITS A TRAP!!!----
Can you tell me why it is fundamentally flawed?
Ignore Ackbar's post. It's free to play at this time. Give it a try yourself and make your own decisions. At this time I really enjoy the game, but there are a lot of whiners out there. It is an RTS, but not a fast paced one like tradional RTS's. It it were fast paced then it wouldn't be any different from any other out there except and it wouldn't be a Massive MOG.
Inquiring minds would like to know. And yes I play and see you online all the time.
well ive been playing for about 2-3 days now...... and i can say that the datacenter or server sucks ass cause i cant stay logged in for a good 30 mins straight. Booster packs are a joke, you need to trade to get 1 card from 25 different people to get a full "army" or regiment or w/e their called. Everyone seems to want dragons and wood tanks. Its a o.k. game imo they really need alot more stable server though.
Playing: EVE Online
Favorite MMOs: WoW, SWG Pre-cu, Lineage 2, UO, EQ, EVE online
Looking forward to: Archeage, Kingdom Under Fire 2

The server is getting better each day tho, they are working hard to fix the problems. I mean that is why we're beta testing it.
The game is in a completely flawed and horrible state right now and because ive played so much i can say that with authority. The AI is horrible if you wanna pve the only way to win is to defeat the absurdly horrid AI, The plunder system is really really poorly thought out. The nessecity of spending a lot of real life cash and a ton of time to get and trade cards makes pvp an expensive proposition. The slow paced city building is the only thing that really works right in this game.
----ITS A TRAP!!!----
convinced me to try it, may edit post later
?played: Nearly everything.
?waiting: *Darkfall*, Hero''s Journey
Like I said, they are working to fix the problems.
The servers are now all back online and things are much more stable. Since our datacenter moved past the problems with its carrier we have been able to get our own tools for assessing the server issues working. We've been able to fix a lot of the problems although we're still having occasional blips here and there. In the upcoming days we're going to focus on improving stability, fixing the trade server performance, fixing client crashes, and addressing some of the more serious bugs in the game. Additionally we're hoping to get back to developing some of the fun stuff like adding in new quests for some of the higher level players and getting some consecutive hours of sleep.
We appreciate your patience!
They had a patch yesterday and for me, the crashing stopped
also remember it is beta
