So CoH lead by a mile with 31 votes.SWG came a far second with 15.With FFXI a close third with 12.
Others got third too but a lot of those that voted seems to have wanted me to include GW,WoW or EQ2.Not sure any of those that voted for others kept in a mmorpg that met the criteria for the vote (at least did not post it).Though maybe 1 or 2 did.
Anyway lineage2 got 8 votes for fourth which was a big shocker to me at least as it had a lot of hype with it and seems a lot of people were or did try it.
eve online came fifth with 7 votes.And neocron got sixth with 5 votes.
Bottom of the barrel was horizons with only 2 votes which shows many people really thought the original idea of horizons was killed off and the game did not live up to expectations.

Most people in 1994 where 8 years old or whatever... I'm 24 years old, been MMORPGing since 1994 and been playing games since 1983. I don't think I should be getting any sort of crap from some preteen who's always crying about BETAs that suck... do they not know what a BETA is?
A number of new mmorpgs came out in that time frame and many fell short of my expectations but I cant understand how anyone can vote CoH as the best of them. Too each his own, and I have to respect their individual taste, but I think once the initial flashy appeal of CoH wears off your going to see its ratings drop dramatically.
Then again maybe CoV or other future expansions will vastly improve the game.
CoH reminds me of SWG. They release a crappy game and then promiss an expansion almost a year later. Why can't CoH just come with PvP? Why couldn't SWG just come with space exploration?

You have a point, it's really hard to rate a game that has been released not too long ago. It will get patches, updates and expansions. Just like DAOC and others got. I already heard they will implement some sort of crafting and PVP is on the way. I am sure the devs will think of some more goodies to keep people paying. It's their job afterall.

I dont think its just a matter of money (it is to some extent), but a matter of time as well. You need to create netcodes, you want to release it in a finished state. Creating games takes time, alot of it, you run into many unexpected bumps in the road that can delay games further. It doesnt bother me personally, i would rather playsomething that is finished and enjoyable then some bug ridden software that only creates anger and frustration.

Yeah no argument there.All the companies are all out for the $$$.Granted they are in the buisness to make $$$.But in the past mmorpg were made by people who actually cared about the game as well as $$$.
Ah well .By the time CoH brings out the pvp i would probably have moved over to EQ2 or WoW.And i certainly am not going back to SWG.I reactivated my account for a month to see if all those posting that the game has gotten better were right.
From what i seen so far it is worse hehe!So no way SWG getting $50 from me for a space expansion.
SWG should be.. it has the best customization of all MMOG's out there without the whole camp fest idea... which I love...
Also the player run economy where everything is made by another player is a brilliant move in a MMOG.. and when the space expansion hits its gonna be the best game out there... imho.

When EQ2 and WoW come out would be nice to have a poll for best ever mmorpg.
Last couple of polls on best ever mmorpg showed EQ slightly beating DAoC.Now how will this games hold out against EQ2 and WoW will be a good question.

i voted 4 other. nobody puts runescape on the list!! i am obsessed with this game like the other 700000 ppl that play it.
