Just wondering.... I haven't actually heard anything good about this title at all. Is there any positive feedback about this title. As a avid LOTR fan I would like to give it a shot but.....with that said I have heard nothing good about this game.

I havnt really heard much BAD about it... just look at the magazine/web reviews of it.
If you are buying the game because you are LOTR fan , i suggest you buy the book first.
I think MMOs are the worst type of game to play because of licence.
That being said LOTRO captures Tolkien world and lore in pretty amazing way, even hardcore Tolkien fanatics agree to that.
As a game , it is excelent fantasy MMO for people that like quests ,storylines and are CASUAL players.
I see you are EVE player , jusdging from this , and the oppinion you stated at the beggining..i would not recomend you this game.
But in my opinion it is very good MMO
It's kinda average.Graphix are nice...not the best but nice.Gameplay is nice...sometimes a grind but wich mmorpg isn't.Commmunity i found rather nice , but it depends who you come across.I'll send you a buddy key got one left.
I recommend you play this game, the graphics are really breath taking and you will feel like you are part of the world. If you like LotR you may like it even more, theres lots of quests and it is a bit of a grind but that goes for all MMOs so nothing new there.

You're not trying very hard if you can't find anything good about the game.....
Try looking for posts on it by 'Meridon', he enjoys playing the game and writes good posts about his experiences in the game and why he enjoys it so much.
You might also find posts by myself and others who decided not to continue playing, but its really a decent game that will appeal to some folks and not others. For what its worth, I left it to go play EVE back at the end of May.

Just started on EVE I am a cox mmo addict the xfire thing is new so not accurate. I have read all of the book's and seen the movie's many time's. Hearing that the graphics are breathtaking is awesome and I do admit I haven't searched for reviews was just curious. Unfortunately my friends were not impressed. I will give it a go based on your feedback and as i said before I am a cov/cox addict (3 accounts all active)

What's with the hateing...I would ratheer ask people I trust in a community where I can get a vast # of opinion's. Is that not what forum's are for to comunicate with others from around the world on numerous topic's? If I am way of please tell me I'll continue posting in my regular forum if it's not acceptable here.

Its good,but it gets old really fast if youre used to the WoW/everquest 2 type model. Graphics are up there with the best in current MMOs.
A lot of people are being put off by the quest repitition and lack of mob types,though this comes at mid range levels rather than at the start.The PVP isnt too great at this time either.
Get a buddy-key and give it a try.
I should add though,that once a lot more of the content is opened up and new mob types are introduced it will be 100% better.
Personally, I dont like it, its most of the same with no innovation, its slow in combat and... have a poor pvp mode. Also, if you wanna feel lotr, as someone said, mmorpg is the worst game to do it, it got lot of griding, questing are like L2, lot of kids that will never talk "in character", lot of hardcore levelers with no time for fun or read anything... same as ALL other mmorpg about drop, craft etc...
and, also, I think the "toons" are... like wow but with some movie detail on them.

The people that like the game are busy playing it, and the PvP and power-leveling crowed that were disappointed, troll this forum with "hate" posts.If you are a trure fan of the books, you'll like the game. The community has a large population of Tolkien fans that enjoy RP or just discussing the books.
Its a casual friendly game.
I bought the life-time sub, and I'm glad I did.
So there is your feed back. Do what ever you want, its not my job to sell you on the game.

I personally really like the game. Sure there is small amounts of grinding but comeon- What MMO doesnt have that? If you like LOTR you can really relate to it better but anywon can play it.

Ahhh OK I have only read the reviews and post's here which is prob why I haven't heard many good things. I never judge or bash a mmo.
Thanks for all the input but I get the consensus that it does get old fast but I'll give it a chance based on the books and movies that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Go look at this poll in a thread started by a LOTRO "hater". He wanted to get people to agree that LOTRO was a faliure. The poll hasn't turned out quite like he had hoped.

I think what Antonius meant is that theres alot of negativity floating around these boards, especially when it comes to LotR or when people ask for MMOs in general and how good they are. Alot of people bash games because they dont enjoy them and really bring very little meat to the table as to why it sucks. Constructive posts can be rare in this site so you may be better off searching the gaming websites first than come here.
If I was to ask for MMOs and suggestions on this site I would end up playing single player games because theres alot of negativity going around and people always talk about the bad part of the games and leave the good out.
But than again if you visit this site often and read the board you may be able to spot the trolls and the best thing to do is either block them or read past them.

Think it's unfortunate that people cannot constructively criticize. I will play LOTR and after some of the post's I am very excited to do so as noted before I am a fan of the novels and movie's. After puruseing the forum's in LOTR COX and EVE I realize there is alot of negativity floating around. But to those who post helpful links and offer there opinion with class...tyvm you know who you are.
