OK, so I am dying for the English version to be released (this month!) so I can try this game out. Regardless of any answers I recieve to my question, I will still give it go!
All I'm wondering is how combat feels. I can't find any good videos of combat anywhere! Is it the target/auto-attack/button-mash WoW style? No targeting Age of Conan type stuff? What is it??? If anyone can direct me to some videos, or just tell me what it's like, that would be great!!
Thanks.

wow style but a good bit slower
Custom hotkeys for your skills. I usually keep them F1-FX.
i) Select a monster with your mouse?
ii) Hit the F key on your keyboard for whichever skill you choose to use.
iii) Now keep on punching your hotkey to use the skill.
One thing though. As you progress in higher levels, AOE parties starts to develope and "skill stance circles" for those with AOE casting skills can open a stance and leave it on ~ eventually go afk for a bit (max i would say, an hour 1/2 to 2 hours). I kid you not.
You're welcome ^-~
OK. Nut sure I understand all that. But it doesn't sound like combat is not very exciting. More information would be great. Combat is my big hook. If it's boring, I won't play. I don't care how much cool customization and features there are are (flying, building cities). Cause all those neat features are most likely means to start combat (territorial wars) a means to get to combat (flying - even combat in the sky I hear).
Yeah, I think this game is going to be a great game....but if it was free fighting like most great RPGs than it would be 100x better.
Uhm... The F key opens your friends list. The R button opens your skill list.
What do you mean by AOE parties? Is it waiting for monsters to respawn in an area and keep spamming you AOE skills?
He was talking about the F1-F12 keys, not the F key.
Actually there is. You can challenge another player to a duel and you don't die if you lose.

and thats why he/she said, "NO REAL PVP." that can barely be considered pvp.

How does that not be PVP? just cos you don't kill the guy it doesn't mean its not . Combat between players in its basic sense is PVP regardless of how its initiated or its end result.

It's not PvP. And it is. It is in the literal sense; one player verse another player. But when people talk about "real" PvP they are usually referring to combat between players of opposing factions/guilds/teams that are fighting, to the death, for a purpose. i.e. honor points, realm points, ranks within a ranking system, loot, items, etc. Pitting yourself against a friendly player to test your strength is most often known as "dueling," and is never done as a means to gain anything, and can easily be recovered from after the victor is declared.PvP is why I play online games. Dueling is what I do when I get a new item and want to see how well it does before I am put in a "real" PvP situation.
