Bored Level 38 Warrior on Thrall

I have toiled in Azeroth to being a level 38 Warrior on Thrall.  This is my first WoW character.  I broke off playing after some marathon weekends but haven't been back in a while.  I've lost that loving feeling, and don't really feel a deep impulse to go back.  Would my life change greatly with a mount or other goodies past level 40 (PvP better, whatever?)  Am I Moses about to give up on the brink of the promised land?   Or should I cast my lot LOTRO or Warhammer instead?

I'd say make a new class, I regretted leveling my warrior to 60 but not because they're boring. However tanking is total boredom(imo)  and warriors can easily be replaced. Yes, mounts make the game funner...but there really isn't anything that exponential about warriors unless you're into PvP.

If you like melee thing, pick a rogue. If you want a caster, I'd say go warlock.

If you don't feel like grinding up to 38 again, you should probably just wait it out, however I think that WoW doesn't really get fun until the 40s due to not as much twinking in battlegrounds, lots of fun instances, and lots of I guess interesting places to level.

EDIT; Keep playing a warrior if you like to PvP, they get A LOT better a lot more fun to play if you're into PvP. If you're a PvE guy and you're not liking the warrior, i'd go with my recommendations.

My first toon was a warrior, and it was damn boring.

Roll a new class. I now have a lvl 70 warlock, lvl 66 hunter, and a few other toons on various lvls. Anything was (for me) much more fun than warrior.

Btw, Warhammer won't be released this year, so if you wanna play now, that's not an option...

    TBH..

    wow is a simple game,

    get quest, get reward.

Its a basic concept that is what RPG games are. that is what wow is. If your expecting it too be more then that, you will be dissapointed.

ASk yourself if you have goals, what do you want to achieve?

Have you tried different aspects to the game like classes or professions or factions?

Is a RPG game even the right genre for you?

Its not a social game, its not sims or second life etc...

Its not a new ground breaking game play at some point. its a 3 year old game.

What do you wnat to get out of wow and is it even that kind of game?

It wont cure your boredem it wont make your problems go away.

Me personally I have Tons of characters, 1 of each class and proffesion, I have characters on 2 servers ally on one horde on a another.

I have a level 61 rogue... and a level 19 pally for specific reasons... I have a permanet PVP characters that will never level past there bracket...19, 29,39 etc...

I enjoy WOW, Have you actually palyed the whole game?

Either get those last 2 levels to 40 and get your first mount, really opens the game up for you.... or....

re-roll a nice, easy solo class (ok, they all are easy) but some are really fast like Hunters and Warlocks.... so you don't have to suffer to much regrinding...

Unless of course you have specific pvp or pve goals in mind....

The mount really does make the game more fun since its always nice to move faster and look cool on a mount. However, I though that my grinding from 35-45 was the most boring leveling in the game. Thats just my opinion but I hope it helps you in your decision.

Personally I don't think it matters what type of character you roll, I think it has to do more with who you are.  For example my brother can play this game at least 8 hours a day every day of the week with his warrior.  I can't play the game for longer than 4 hours without wanting to fall asleep.  For me it doesn't matter what my class is, and for him he can play one of the arguably more boring classes endlessly.

If you are looking for a game with a story line or a real purpose... it's not the game for you.  One of the major disappointments in my opinion of the game is that you aren't really involved in anything with a real story line or story arc until you hit like 60-70.  Everything before that is just pointless quests where you need to go and get an item or kill some creature or even worse,  both and the item is a retardly rare drop rate from a specific monster.

This all gets extremely tedious and eventually you stop reading the reason for the quests because most of them are just pointless things like "I hate boars.... got kill 10 boars for me.  I'll reward you".  However when you start getting into places like the plaguelands there are story lines about how the places got to be the way that they are and some other stuff that is kinda interesting.  You do however need to be basically in your 50s to hit the plaguelands.  I haven't gotten past level 60 because I find the game FAR to boring when there are so many other options out there so I quit playing.

So you can try other classes, see if you find one that sparks your interest.  The first 20 levels only take about 10-14 hours to get anyways and you generally have a good feel as to whether you'd want to continue with similar gameplay by that level.  Of course my suggestion would be if you're going to try a whole bunch out in a row that you play different races so you can at least get different quests or different quest areas to reduce boredom.  Even though the quest types will be basically the same you won't be going out to kill the exact same mob in the exact same location every single time.

From what i've heard LoTRO isn't really any different than WoW.  Same questing and gameplay although apparently the characters design is better but I've never given it a try yet.  Too busy Beta testing games.

    Good luck

Thanks for all the replies.  If the narrative does become more relevant to the character's quests I suspect I'll be more engaged by it.  I've seen some higher level players do questions that for fear of giving a spoiler alert I won't discuss here.  There have been touches like the Strangethorn Vale character that was the Hemingway anagram that were nice.  But the "kill ten boars" stuff was getting to me.  Perhaps the travel as well.

WoW has done a better job incorporating storyline than other MMOs I've browsed.  Perhaps storyline and world persistence are structurally hard to balance.  I will probably plug away again sometime and see if less travel time with a mount makes a difference.

The Game didn't really get fun for me at all until in my low 30's. Then the mid-late 30's was really boring (after I got out of stranglethorn and into desolace/the badlands) Then it started to pick up again at 40 when I got my mount and got to quest in some interesting places. Now I'm 44 and having alot of fun, hopefully 50 in a few days.

I think if you will play WoW and collect level 40 , you will be bored agian , but much faster . At level 40 will appear some things and items , but we will get bored about 1 month , not all players like WoW , maybe you want something else , but you don't know what ? I strongly recommend to find other game , like GW or something like that .

First you must give , only than you can take .
