why is is called 'Pirates'otBS?

The game seems heavily in-favour of Britain,France and Spain. Pirates will be out-numbered, out-gunned and probably less wealthy.(my opinion). The game isnt centered on pirates so the game's name doesnt seem fitting.
They should change the name of the game to maybe....

Nobody said being a Pirate was easy mate.. we are the ultimate underdogs.
I'm sure SOE will change its name to something more suitable and appropriate.

Because Disney owns the name that would fit. Also I think "Pirates of the Gulf of Mexico" sounds just a little bit cheezey
Everyone loves pirates (or ninjas, but they won't play this) so the word itself is a sellingpoint.
Played so far: 9Dragons, AO, AC, AC2, CoX, DAoC, DF, DnL, DR, DDO, Ent, EvE, EQ, EQ2, FoMK, FFO, Fury, GW, HG:L, HZ, L1, L2, M59, MU, NC1, NC2, PS, PT, R:O, RF:O, RYL, Ryzom, SL, SB, SW:G, TR, TCoS, MX:O, UO, VG, WAR, WoW...
It all sucked.
Because Elves, Dwarves, and Hobbits of the Burning Sea was already taken.
Well, rumor has it they were going to make it a real-life simulator of 1720 and call it "Pirates of the Burning PEE. Towns would have Brothels and there was no cure for syphillis. Problem was, they really couldn't get the game play mechanism that would allow you to piss off the head of your ship, screaming at the top of your lungs from the pain, to work quite the way they wanted.
So, with great sadness, that level of realism was removed, and they changes the name to "Pirates of the Burning SEA" since they had already made teh logo and it was almost completely the same name. I'm sure you can understand.

Theres probably alot of pirate NPCs im guessing, lots of 'kill x many npc pirates for 20 dubloon' quests.
I wonder what the "Burning Sea" is refering to. A metaphor for a conflict at Sea perhaps?.
Pirates will be the most popular in the game, pirates are able to board other players ships and overrun them, than use it as their own. Something that nations are unable to do. Also take a look around the polls at the official forums. Pirates are currently the most popular, than comes british - > france - > spain.
Err, actually most of them are more like:
British -> Pirates -> Spanish -> French.
Yeah British are almost right up there with Pirates.
Besides, French of the Burning Seas wouldn't sell near as many boxes......
I just yelled out the games that MMORPG has listed as "in development" and asked my wife which one sounded the most interesting, based simply on the name. She said, "Pirates of the Burning Sea."
Incontrovertible evidence that it's a good name!

they call it "pirates of the burning seas" because in one zone...they have the Exxon valdez and in this world instead of just crashing and scumming up the beaches.......it catches on fire!
