The Holy Grail of Crafting

Whether it be a weapon, a suit of armor, or a big ol’ stack of cooked meat, MMORPG players have always looked to the crafter for supplies to make their virtual life easier. Almost always, these items have some sort of practical purpose. However, attaining the ability to produce these top end commodities usually entails spending countless hours obtaining the required resources and grinding away to cap your desired crafting skill. On top of that, crafters may be rendered sub-par if the game’s designers are not careful. Crafted items may become obsolete to that new raiding gear or those new PvP rewards. Crafting is subject to change. What if these pitfalls could be avoided altogether?

What about player housing? There are very few MMORPG’s on the market with a player housing system that offers the player a great deal of customization options (It’s strange that, from what I’ve experienced, Ultima Online has the best player housing system, yet it‘s one of the oldest MMO’s on the market). While I think it’s safe to say that most MMO players prefer combat over crafting and player housing, some players are looking for more in the customization department. Critics of the MMO genre often claim that playing MMO games require little to no skill, and in the case of traditional crafting, the difference between an expert crafter and a novice is, in essence, the amount of hours spent grinding their character. What if there was a game that eliminated the fundamental problems in MMORPG crafting, and allowed you to (legally) make real money for your crafted creations?

The problem is that games are getting alot of penetration now... They play to what the largest audience wants. And the large audiences are young kids who dont know what the hell they want yet soo they just eat up anything and think its great... ala WOW.
