Hey, give the OP some slack here. I'm sure he and the other two remaining SWG players are having fun playing the game .
I actually have some positive feedback to give to SWG as well. Today, when I cancelled all of my remaining accounts, I noticed that SOE has improved on their feedback form as to why you are cancelling the account. Instead of just having a few tick boxes, as they used to have, they also have some fields where you can type your own words into. The text I typed into those fields would probably have made most of you here proud lol.
Not that I really think it will matter in the end, but at least it felt very good spewing out all of that shit to SOE lol.
I gave it a shot and it's right in line with the cu over all imo.Some things are worse some are alot better.It's not close to pre pub 9 swg ,but it's light years ahead of the fantasy games out.No one has to try it.Some people like complaining on forums more than they ever did playing a mmo.
Its good that you have found a way to have fun and get away from the over saturated fantasy MMOs out. Ill come back, when... 1) crafted Items are better then Loot drops, Can you loot Swoops/Vehicles? Correct me if Im wrong, In the first few quests on Tatooine once you arrived , you do work for Jabba to get a Vehicle? For your info, when I started SWG I had 3 planets to choose from and all we got was starting cloths and either a CDEF or a survial knife, no droid, no swoop , no space station. YOu choose and jumped into the world. Houses? When I played no, lol wouldn't suprise me if there is a quest where you get one now tho.. Fancy Clothing (so thats rp stuff not armor), Furniture?Droids, A compleet full set of armor (sure quest-lined maybe) but whats this thing about people complaining about crafting, if you like crafting then maybe try out the crafts that do work fine, btw Armor and Weapons are still well sold by many crafters but only by those patient enough to wait on that perfect spot of resources and collect those res. till you get all to make max stat armor, its always impatient people complaining about crafting in almost every mmorpg that has crafting in it. Ok when I played, there was 1 quest you did to get a schem for armor, RIS armor and one on the vette to get a gun and vehicle., there was No Quest system or character levels. The fact you get anyof your Key Items from quest or loot drop is sad. 2) Entertainers are useful and do big street dances again. This still is done, tho you need to look for it at affiliated forums to know hte when and where. Look for it? yeah 1 guy with a holo band? I was in a guild on euro-chimaera called <STAR> that had over 350 active Ents and crafters that would be seen anywhere in the galaxy any time of day or night, NOT AFK EITHER. and we put on free Street perfomances daily , and were hired to work shifts in Malls and do weddings and other Big player MADE events. We even Played for the Imperials during a Player made ran by GMs invasion on a player City!!!!
3) When not just day 1 guy can start with a glow stick, and actually has to earn it. LOL ok you look confused, See in the begaining there was NO JEDI , and definatly not as a starting choice, then they added a hologrind after pub 4 i think it was, a rare drop that helped you follow the path to mastering certain proffessions to "Unlock" force sensitivty whihc was then trained to Jedi, but they were perma flagged PVP and 3 deaths and your dead forever buddy. AFter pub 9 and the infamous Combat upgrade, the first HUGE unwanted change we went thru, they added a set of specific Badges you get to trigger Force sensitivity. at which point you then did a few quests from the village, lets see what was it the sets of quest would rotate in a cycle and you had a week to complete them before the village shifted to one of its 4 phases. Oh and that was only part of it, the fact you had to take Normal xp and exchange it and convert into Force Senstive XP at a steep price. which eventually you grinded enough (3 months - 6months to even a year for casual players) to finally get initate jedi. then you had to do a set of quests to become a padawon and finally begain earning Jedi xp, which was alot less then Normal xp. Basically Only JEDI had at this point intentionally tried and worked really hard to become a Jedi, and that had meaning, those people you meet who were there with you beside you grinding with you, you became closest friends, brothers/ sisters, and then more so once you were grinding JEdi XP which was alot lower then normal XP Dodging Bounty hunters which incured XP loss if they killed you. Now... its a class... and you can do it as a choice day 1, and you get your glow stick at what ...lvl 30ish? No Im not totally uninformed, myabe a lil dated info, but still... NGE jedi have no sense of dedication, loyalty and team work and endurance that PRE 9 perma FRS death JEdi knew, or even the CU jedi with there long village grind had a commuinty they had a common bond with each other and helped each other. Something NGE jedi will never even have a clue of.
4) When my guild returns Sorry don't kow your guild, are you still a guild together playing another mmo?If so and when having fun there why leave where you have fun? If your not having fun anymore you could always give it a try again Many of us went different Direction to differnt games, very few are there still as a testament to the dedication of some players. I myself went to SL, RF, now WOW and soon AOC and someday I hope they make SC-MMO and KotOR-mmo. thanks to Ventrilo, MSN messenger, myspace, guild portals web site, many of us are still together and in guild here in WOW. If not in same game, we at least still keep in touch. None of us can play that shadow of a shelled out Mess that Smedely claims use to be SWG. Tell me its close to what it was when you have your Player Event Badge for being in a Player Ran PVP event with 200 Vs 200 rebel/imp battle with devs operating Shuttles, and AT-ATs with vader, bobba and leah walking arround and helping us in the battle as DEVS logged on them actually playing WITH US!!!

Hey i can't speak for you so thats your choice, i can only tell thats SWG currently is not that bad, its actualy pretty good, the thing what changed most is those who are playing it now, the community has changed and thats the biggest change of the whole game, allot seemed to only focus on the small acpect of mmo like quest/loot/gear, if we would have THAT community we had back then INGAME, SWG might become even be a beter game then it actualy was back then. If only some of the other VETS could let go of the past or stop living in the past, more and more Vets are already resubbing (including me 1.2months ago) i know i lived for a long time in that past of pre-cu and SWG would never be the same, i'm just glad i gave it a fresh new start and start clean with a new account, learning the way up again, made a whole lot of difference compared to the many times i HAVE tried it before and never got into it as like i said i kept living in that past, i kept fooling myself that SOE ruined MY game. I want to be my character, my mia takahashi on chimaera server, who worked as a Master Rifleman/master combat medic in the imperial service to capture and steal a Jedi Star fighther to return to the rebel side as one of there top PVP pilots. I want my Jedi Zabrak Borias, Mentor to 100s maybe 1000s in the sands of tatooine on Intrepid server who guided helped and dedicated his whole existance to helping new Force sensitives and padawons, and Fought and killed countless Bounty hunters.
I want to shop in player cities with all player made items cloths , weapons , armor, ships, with Live dancers in cantinas EVERYWHERE chatting and dancing and playing. I want our commuinty and our sense of BEING us, who we were. NOT 1 of 9 pre set paths to live the movie crap....

Oh really, that's ALL that has changed? The *cough* *cough* "community"? If in community you mean those 30 Jedi and 40 Commandos running around dueling then YES, you are correct. To say the current SWG: NGE actually has a viable community is as much a joke as saying it is a good game.
SWG = One of the worst games on the market. It's WoW in Star Wars skin, with more bugs AND YES, BROKEN COLLISION DETCECTION IS A BUG, in fact, it's a MAJOR BUG.
Times have not changed. It's still the same level-based crapfest with some of the worst questing in the MMO world. There is STILL major lag in cities despite lack of players in them, and the economy is shot, dead, done, gone, deceased.
You are absolutely entitled to your opinion but the vast majority of vets are smart enough to know your opinion is just wrong. You might get your point accepted better over at the "current" forum, though I realize, like SWG: NGE, it isn't as nearly populated as THIS FORUM.

I wont give them (SOE) any more of my money after they pulled the bait and switch technique when ToOW came out. I fail to see how a watered down kiddy version of the game could be any fun. Ahhhh I remember STAR. They were in every cantina you could find pretty much. They had the best crafting stations also. (sigh) Think I'm going to sulk now, get drunk, and shake my fist in the air at SOE's incompetence.

yes I remember Exile well.. I MADE LOTS of cloths BE stuff for you guys. Remember those days WHen you had Custom fit to your color and style Bio Engineer cloths !!! I was a Master Tailor /Master Dancer ... my shop was a player cantina in Star City near the shuttle port but was set up like a clothing store with racks of cloths and we had a huge fireplace I made. Migan was a shipwright that sold her stuff in my shop on the side as well.
One of my close Real life friends was in Exile, Canro. I think he was a MR/MCM or a BH/MR ... all I remember is the large T-21
Exile was the most Active Base Killing PVP guild I remember, I think it was also Exile that showd up too help the dev team assualt that rebel player City on dantoonie. Chaos , pure chaos!!!!
Ahh yes the game we loved. See even in the SWG-EMU we wont get back our server, our guilds, and our community...

Just a FYI miataka, STAR are back ingame on Chimaera.
I am also an old vet who left in disgust at the onset of the NGE. I have returned for various vet trials since then but never stayed - until now. I returned on the release of Chapter Six.
I used to play on Bria and thats where all my Elders are, but that server has really gone downhill, it is now the haven of 1337doods and morons. Instead of quitting, I decided to start again fresh on a different server and seeing as I am from the UK I chose Chimaera.
The population is pretty big (obviously not as big as Pre-CU), it is one of the most populated servers, the others being (in rough order of size from largest to smallest): 1. Bria, 2. Bloodfin, 3. Chimaera, 4. Ahazi, 5. Chilastra. The other servers are pretty dead imho.
Chimaera is a great server and I am having a lot of fun there and as I said at the beginning, STAR can be found in lots of cantinas all around the galaxy.
Even though I enjoy Chimaera a lot and I am transfering one of my Elders over there from Bria, I have also started all over again fresh on TCPrime. In fact that is where I spend most of my time ingame. TCPrime is a brand new server, opened in March. It is for testing, but is totally different from the regular old Testcenter. There are no Frogs, nor will there be any Wipes on TCPrime. In fact, TCPrime is basically like a normal Live server with a few exceptions:
1. Updates are received first on TCPrime for testing purposes
2. It is a new server so the economy is much more sensible, items that cost 40M on live are worth around 2-3M on TCPrime
3. Four Character Slots instead of the Live server cap of two (or three with Elder jedi)
4. One weekend every month is a double xp weekend to help people level so that testing covers all levels
I am having a blast on this new server and I am really glad I came back to SWG. Have a look at my sig, SWG was my first MMORPG and look at all the others that I have tried since leaving on 16 November 2005. Not one of them could hold my attention for more than a couple of months. I am not saying that every vet will enjoy the game as it is now, but what I am saying is that there have been a lot more vets returning since chapter 6 and they seem to be sticking around. Sure, its not Pre-CU, but imho it is still head-and-shoulders above all the other cookie-cutter fanstasy MMO's that are available just now.
Anyway, thats just my 2 pennies, take it or leave it.
MMORPG History: Playing - EVE Online. Played (Retired) - AO, SWG, MxO, WoW, RFO, SoR, CoX, EQ2, GW, L2, Vanguard, LotRO, AoC, TCoS, Aion. Favourite MMO - Pre-CU SWG, 3 Years, 4 Accounts, 2 Pre-CU Jedi (1 Pre-9). Awaiting - Star Wars: The Old Republic, The Secret World, Earthrise.
OP, I'm glad you're enjoying yourself again, but really, this isn't the place to make a statement about your newly found SWG happiness. Slide over to the 'Current' forum where you'll receive a hero's welcome, but don't expect anything from us vets.

I've posted once, maybe twice in the Current Forum and I know alot of Vets stick to this forum as well. Frankly, I just can't stand the back slapping and collective denial of reality over there. But have no fear, this isn't a true gathering place of vets anyway. We all moved some time ago in unison and only some of us pop in here from time to time to have a look.

some of us still play New Ghey Enhancments because it's SW and we can't find another MMO we can call a home... so we come here to cry 'bout how NGE sux and we do the same thin' over at SWG Current because we play that too.. others are welcome to come to our forum and ask questions but don't come here and tell us how much ya like NGE and that we should get over it and it's just a game kinda stuff....

Let me also say I have given a lot away not only do I craft and sell I also help new players and if those new players join the City I'm in I provide them with everything they need, Free Armor, Free Harvestors, Free Credits 4million, Free House, and Free advice on playing.
Thats also makes the game fun again the new blood coming in. Though they don't relize how much better the game was no sense in telling them.

You are absolutely entitled to your opinion but the vast majority of vets are smart enough to know your opinion is just wrong. You might get your point accepted better over at the "current" forum, though I realize, like SWG: NGE, it isn't as nearly populated as THIS FORUM.
Im tired of all the fantasy games out there as well, and I'm finding myself bouncing around 14 day trial to 14 day trial, trying to find a game that can bring that uniqueness that SWG had. Me and my guild <eXile> on Chimaera -European all quit pretty much when NGE came out and we went to WoW. Since then I have played Eve and CoV, but nothing can compete to what SWG was. I wont give them (SOE) any more of my money after they pulled the bait and switch technique when ToOW came out. I fail to see how a watered down kiddy version of the game could be any fun. Ahhhh I remember STAR. They were in every cantina you could find pretty much. They had the best crafting stations also. (sigh) Think I'm going to sulk now, get drunk, and shake my fist in the air at SOE's incompetence.
yes I remember Exile well.. I MADE LOTS of cloths BE stuff for you guys. Remember those days WHen you had Custom fit to your color and style Bio Engineer cloths !!! I was a Master Tailor /Master Dancer ... my shop was a player cantina in Star City near the shuttle port but was set up like a clothing store with racks of cloths and we had a huge fireplace I made. Migan was a shipwright that sold her stuff in my shop on the side as well.
One of my close Real life friends was in Exile, Canro. I think he was a MR/MCM or a BH/MR ... all I remember is the large T-21
Exile was the most Active Base Killing PVP guild I remember, I think it was also Exile that showd up too help the dev team assualt that rebel player City on dantoonie. Chaos , pure chaos!!!!
Ahh yes the game we loved. See even in the SWG-EMU we wont get back our server, our guilds, and our community...

I hear you guys, I came back around one week ago, great game. I prefer the large scale PvP battles and the hunting squads rather than missions, but its nice to have that option.

Just a FYI miataka, STAR are back ingame on Chimaera.
I am also an old vet who left in disgust at the onset of the NGE. I have returned for various vet trials since then but never stayed - until now. I returned on the release of Chapter Six.
I used to play on Bria and thats where all my Elders are, but that server has really gone downhill, it is now the haven of 1337doods and morons. Instead of quitting, I decided to start again fresh on a different server and seeing as I am from the UK I chose Chimaera.
The population is pretty big (obviously not as big as Pre-CU), it is one of the most populated servers, the others being (in rough order of size from largest to smallest): 1. Bria, 2. Bloodfin, 3. Chimaera, 4. Ahazi, 5. Chilastra. The other servers are pretty dead imho.
Chimaera is a great server and I am having a lot of fun there and as I said at the beginning, STAR can be found in lots of cantinas all around the galaxy.
Even though I enjoy Chimaera a lot and I am transfering one of my Elders over there from Bria, I have also started all over again fresh on TCPrime. In fact that is where I spend most of my time ingame. TCPrime is a brand new server, opened in March. It is for testing, but is totally different from the regular old Testcenter. There are no Frogs, nor will there be any Wipes on TCPrime. In fact, TCPrime is basically like a normal Live server with a few exceptions:
1. Updates are received first on TCPrime for testing purposes
2. It is a new server so the economy is much more sensible, items that cost 40M on live are worth around 2-3M on TCPrime
3. Four Character Slots instead of the Live server cap of two (or three with Elder jedi)
4. One weekend every month is a double xp weekend to help people level so that testing covers all levels
I am having a blast on this new server and I am really glad I came back to SWG. Have a look at my sig, SWG was my first MMORPG and look at all the others that I have tried since leaving on 16 November 2005. Not one of them could hold my attention for more than a couple of months. I am not saying that every vet will enjoy the game as it is now, but what I am saying is that there have been a lot more vets returning since chapter 6 and they seem to be sticking around. Sure, its not Pre-CU, but imho it is still head-and-shoulders above all the other cookie-cutter fanstasy MMO's that are available just now.
Anyway, thats just my 2 pennies, take it or leave it.

OP, I'm glad you're enjoying yourself again, but really, this isn't the place to make a statement about your newly found SWG happiness. Slide over to the 'Current' forum where you'll receive a hero's welcome, but don't expect anything from us vets.

There is no need to slide over anywhere Zipit. The disgruntles run rampant over on the current forums bustin in on every post over there so I think him posting good news about SWG in this forum is just fine.

I've posted once, maybe twice in the Current Forum and I know alot of Vets stick to this forum as well. Frankly, I just can't stand the back slapping and collective denial of reality over there. But have no fear, this isn't a true gathering place of vets anyway. We all moved some time ago in unison and only some of us pop in here from time to time to have a look.

let me be first to make this distinction: SWG vet refuge is for disgrunted preCU/CU vets and SWG Current is for EVERYb0dy!
some of us still play New Ghey Enhancments because it's SW and we can't find another MMO we can call a home... so we come here to cry 'bout how NGE sux and we do the same thin' over at SWG Current because we play that too.. others are welcome to come to our forum and ask questions but don't come here and tell us how much ya like NGE and that we should get over it and it's just a game kinda stuff....

Let me also say I have given a lot away not only do I craft and sell I also help new players and if those new players join the City I'm in I provide them with everything they need, Free Armor, Free Harvestors, Free Credits 4million, Free House, and Free advice on playing.
Thats also makes the game fun again the new blood coming in. Though they don't relize how much better the game was no sense in telling them.
