I find nothing wrong with the animation. This is not FFXI which only has 4 looks to a model this game has the most diverse personaliztion of a character model I have yet encountered.

Have you attempted to personalize a character or did you just randomize?

Oh I forgot you DON'T play the game, and you are posting here why?

Wow swordmark45, how about you actually read his post before commenting.  He's talking about combat animation, NOT character customization.

I do absolutely agree that combat animation does feel very stick-figure like and not dynamic to say the least.  The combat animations are without feeling, without *umph*, without conviction.  I yearn for a more satisfying sword swipe or dagger shankage animation.    I hope SOE addresses this issue.  Thanks for bringing it up Tonrulez.

Yep, terrible models and animations have always been one of my biggest gripes. I eventually became a tad desensitized to it, but during launch I couldn't believe they were going to release with those lumbering inarticulate models.

Hopefully there'll be a content update centered specifically around this problem one day.

Yeah, Graphically-wise the character models seem sub par. For character creation having all those sliders they actually change very little and you end up looking like everyone else. I noticed that the eye position and pupil orientation on several races were off and VG has the worst looking hair of any recent mmo Ive played. THe hair looks plastic and doesnt move or fall realisticly at all.
The world graphics are very nice in most places; although they over use the shiny, plastic look here too. As for animations I liked the combat animation I saw for the most part, They could add more to be sure.

I play a ranger and I see a lot of variations in my combat modeling. Most of my moves have different actions, I also play a dreadknight and again a majority of the moves vary. They are smooth and well executed animations.

Also my apologies for the misread --- at work and read too quickly

Shortly after launch they did update the combat animations.  My monk has much more fluid moves now than it did in beta or at launch.  The same can be said for my Cleric, Dreadknight, and Sorcerer.

i found some videos and screenshots from pre-alpha 2005...  like:

it looks like they had better models in pre-aplha they look more animated. maybe it had something to do with microsoft sigil broke up with microsoft  around 2005-2006. what happen to the old models... !? and why they took lots of hairstyles out u had avaible in beta...? anyone played this game in aplha? maybe we  just have to wait.... i think before they fixin the animations they do lots of other stuff  first... for me it was one of the worst things that make feel very bad in vanguard...

Like folks are saying here... it depends a lot on the race and class.  I think Orcs and Goblins are excellent models and I think Paladin and Disciple animations are exceptionally well done.  That said, Lesser Giants are very blah and their ain't a whole lot cooking for some of the caster animations.

Anyways...to the OP, It may be sometime before SOE can get to the animation problems because right now they are focusing on the more severe issues first and then, later, the cosmetic issues. Sorry.
