It wouldnt bug me at all if they had male only or female only classes. I do however always find it funny that only like 5% of the pop. of any given game are "real" females but in game 70% of the population play girls. Why I guess so guys without girlfriends can look at charatoon @ss. Its kinda wierd but thats MMOs for you..
I find this whole thread particularly hilarious. Its mostly men going omg there's no female chosen and a few feminist who think everything is a slant against feminity. Boo hoo no chosen females. Females are pretty well respresented in other races so whats the big deal that two races are lacking in females toons. Either way I will be playing orcs, goblins, and chaos classes. Male or female it doesn't matter its ROLE PLAYING. Take on a role and play it thats what MMORPGs are all about.
I'm a female and I'm a gamer and I'm a traditional RPGer. Gender roles in games shouldn't matter, its a game after all not an actual representation of life.
BTW I saw plenty of sexist comments by guys which just blows my mind the stupidity of typical male gamers... guys you aren't females you have no idea what your talking about when it comes to gender roles for females or emotional roles. I've known guys that act far more emotionally to things than any girl would. If you weren't born a female then your out of your league trying to explain female roles, not to mention you just look like a bunch of pigs when you shove your foot in your mouth thinking your speaking out fairly or even unfairly on our behalf. We don't need your help.
BTW Game companies are very aware of their female audience its only the supposed 'feminist' few that think we need special treatment, we don't. We like the same things just for different reasons. While some girls aren't into flat out warfare they certaintly aren't against playing dirty and down right evil if it means winning at something.

Really, however, who is one women to say she speaks for all or even most "Women", I can tell you i don't speak for all men. Just becuase I am a man doesn't mean i understand what men around me are feeling or thinking any better than i understand what women understand or thinking. By grouping "Genders" you place yourself in a box or set patterns of behavior, amny of which are soical constructs based on genetic differences. However, they are often very remotely based or there is no soild connection. These coneections or bases are very old and basic in nature to a cruder time and setting.
Still having said this the difference between male and female are notable and present, however, the differences between one human and another human of whatever gender are more notable and present. It is only when you examine a large number of people from both genders do you get to see trends that typically do follow the stereotypes about females and males. Thus the Stereotypes are correct in a sense and incorrect in another sense.

Reproduction is actually a major social problem for Warhammer dwarfs. According to the lore the Dwarfs are a dying race whose time has past. (That's one of the reasons they always seem so bitter and angry. They can remember how their race used to be and now they see themselves in decline)
There is a very low ratio of Dwarf females to males in their population and the female Dwarfs are considered very precious because they are so important to continuing their race.
Few humans have ever even seen a female dwarf because they remain in the dwarven strongholds. They are known to be as fierce fighters as the males but they fight in defense of their families and homes. A male dwarf would be horrified to see a rare female dwarf at risk on a foreign battlefield.
But this is Mythic's game and their version of Warhammer. Obviously in THEIR version of Warhammer, female dwarfs are not meant to be rare or unusual. They can be as commonplace as male dwarfs if people decide to roll them on a server.
Which is why one can't use the lore to argue against female Chosen. Mythic altered the lore to allow female dwarfs, they could alter the lore for any other race/class.
I don't think this will be a game-killing decision but I do think we'll be seeing discussions like this one throughout the life of the game.

The main fact of the matter is that it's integral to the lore of the game world.
Case in point, the Witch Elf. There are no male Witch Elves in the game world. All the witch elves are also (in spirit atleast) "married" to the Witch King. They serve as his loyal assassins or whatever and are made up completely of females. I'm sure you can find much more info if you look it up (I'm too lazy) but there you go.
Also I don't think you'll ever see any female Orcs in the game, cause it's my understanding that the orcs are actually some type of fungus and thus don't reproduce the same way we do.
