Anyone have a link to the "NGE Warning" post?

I don't know if you all can recall this,.. most of the vets here should know what I am talking about...

Someone wrote a post like 5 or 6 months before the NGE hit and warned us all about what was going to happen to SWG. Most of the changes this person put in this little write up did turn out to be true,... well, ok,.. it was all ture and the people who told him he was crazy, dumb, etc... was left in the dust,....  

I think many of us did not care what this guy said because it started out as one of them.. "One of my uncle friend's works at SOE" and he said this was going to happen.....

But anyways, if some one has it,... can you post it again,.. I mean this thing was almost scary to read and only to find out,.. it was all the truth.

It was more like about 3 weeks before the NGE.

I remember the flame count on that thread ran over 30 pages before it was locked by SOE.

I also remember a lot of the people who flamed the guys right after the nge hit actually started an apology thread.

I don't have a link to the thread because its probably long since deleted by SOE but the actual Sony statement regarding the NGE was only a couple weeks before the expansion and AFTER they had already started pre-orders... After word of the NGE got out people started cancelling their pre-orders, there was also stories(word of mouth) of people having a very difficult time cancelling their pre-order at the last minute.

Not exactly the best business model.........

I remember that thread.  that guy sure did say he got his info from someone who was affiliated with SOE.  However, SOE has changed the forums they use since then and I'm pretty sure that thread has been deleted as a lot of threads I've looked for that were posted around that time have been deleted or moved someplace the general public has no access to.   I do recall a lot of warnings about CU also before it went live, again it was all true....amazing no one ever listens to those guys when they post that stuff and then it all comes true...lol

Yes, there was someone who posted months before the NGE. I believe it was at the same time as the "SWG Starter Kit" was accidentally posted too early on Amazon or one of those places, due out in November of 2005. That announcement spurred speculation... SOE denied, said it was a fraud or mistake or whatever. At the same time someone posted on the O-boards saying he had heard what this Starter Kit was going to be all about, and how we were switching to a class/level based game, most profs were going away, Jedi as a starter prof, and so forth -- basically a summary of what the whole NGE was going to be. Everyone flamed him as a scammer and said he was full of it, etc... the post was locked then deleted... And the Starter Kit, for a while, disappeared.

When NGE hit, of course, everyone who remembered that post realized that the guy who made that post was pretty much 100% accurate.

There was another post similar to it, a few weeks before... again using similar phrasing, possibly by the same guy (or an alt account of his)... I don't remember who wrote them. But that post too, predicted the whole NGE. Again, locked/deleted, etc... again, mostly right on the money.

The sad thing is,..... I was one of the people who called these people crazy too,..  lol and I also recall telling this person that I was sorry in the forum that was setup for the person who wrote the warnings.

I was also one of the people who got a refund from SOE because of how they broke out the NGE 2 weeks after the expansion.

I tried looking on here for the post because I can recall someone posting it on here too, I think it was a copy and paste from the old SOE boards... maybe one of you with good search skills can find it.

I just don't get how SOE can get business now,.... With all they have done not only to the game but how they do business with customers......

I loved it when SOE said NO REFUNDS! and then 2 or 3 weeks after the NGE,... they caved in.  I think the SOE lawyers were working over time.

And before someone says,..... They did nothing wrong because of the "Game Play Terms", save your breath,.. I know what it said and it's to bad SOE went as far as being over the customer and then used that to keep themselfs out of trubble..... because after all, we know how many people read the "Game Play Terms"....  oh well,... I guess I can sit back and laugh at how this game has sunk due to SOE and LA great minds,........

So was I, my friend... so was I. Many of us were. The thing is, what SOE did with the NGE was just so utterly unprecedented and unreal that nobody in a million years would have believed it. In fact when the first official news was allowed out, I and most of my guild thought for at least a day or two that it was a hoax -- until Smed or Freeman or one of those finally got on the boards and confirmed it. It was just such an incredible thing to do that people's heads practically exploded trying to absorb it all. The CU was one thing, but at least they left most of the basics of the game in place. The NGE just totally re-wrote the game, and coming after months of SOE saying over and over "CU is here to stay, period" and talk about publishing things for CHs and Rangers and the like... to then spring the NGE on us like they did... Nope, nobody in a million years would have believed it. And so we all flamed the poor guy for being a nutcase... when in fact, he was dead on.

Im not familiar with the expansion history and "NGE" , but ive heard nasty things. ive considered giving the game a try, so could someone either post what all happened or post a link to something that  does? thanks

I remember that post as well. It was some guys friend who had an uncle that worked with SOE. Everyone flamed him and the page count grew at an incredible rate. But in the end, it was all true.

Eh.. it wasn't 3 weeks before the NGE.

The guy posted like 4-6 months in advance and warned us all, I was actually one of the people who replied and told him he was crazy. I guess I should have listened to him, would've made it less painful (even with the lube).
