Amazing amount of madeup facts here... You must be enjoying yourselves.

I think the question was "peak population" meaning overall population of the game. Not how many was online at the same time. So if one server hold... lets say 2.500 people at any one time (Normal figure you often saw in the server list) Then consider that a normal player is online about 4-5 hours per day (for this example, just to make it perfectly clear I will give it a silly high figure to prove my point), let say each and every person is online 6 hours/day, 24 hours in a day that would be 10.000 people populating one server. 18 servers pretty equal would be an overall population of about 180.000 people. This is simple theory...

Closer to reality, playtime is around 3-4 hours a day, more on peak hours and less at nighttime pretty much even each other out, put a middle at 1.500 on a 24 hour average would make.. look at that, 9.000 people per server, 18 servers. 162.000 people population.

Then we have Europe as well, and I know for a fact those servers were close to full 24/7 because of the massive PvP, putting people per server at a huge number, probably closer to 15.000 people per Euro server, maybe more.

Since Mythic always have been 100% open with their user numbers and subscriber statistics I would not be surprised if a stat chart show the exact number, no matter what conspiracies peole are making up in their heads

For those that say 250.000 people subscribing to DaoC at its peak during the golden PvP age is impossible... Well, outshine me with your leet math skills.

Knowing these people they will probably claim that press release as a lie, but then in the same breath will hold Blizzard's press releases as if they are the word of god.

    Currently playing:
LOTRO & WoW (not much WoW though because Mines of Moria rocks!!!!)

    Looking Foward too:
Bioware games (Dragon Age & Star Wars The Old Republic)

Early days of DAOC indeed were great. I remember logging in and there were player wizards standing in front of Pyrewood Keep (or whatever it was called) giving fresh newbies right out of character creation damage buffs to help them along. DAOC had a very exciting and memorable release and its still the game I refer to people currently if they want to play an MMO. Truly a great experience, DAOC ranks at number 2 at my best MMO list. Only Asheron's Call tops DAOC.

In terms of population, Im not sure of numbers but DAOC had one of the biggest MMO populations for it at the time. You would have an easy 1.2k of people on normal servers constantly, with the less populated ones having around 700-1k and more popular (Merlin, Lancelot etc) having around 2.5k. Peak times you could see average server population go up to 2k with the big ones reaching sever max which was probably 3k flat.

On a side note even the FFA PvP severs (Mordred and Andred) each had a respectable 1k-2k people on them as well, so there goes people's claims of FFA PvP failing
