not 100% player controlled economy

raptorfalconraptorfalcon Member Posts: 126

After reading many things said by Moorgard (hope I spelled it right) Something caught my atention. According to him the developers will control part of the economy. I think this is a good thing but haven seen it.

Can anyone tell me if this is such a good thing and any info in how they would do it ?

The most part its a good thing but the community will control a large aspect of the economy since there are going to be LOTS of rare and crafted items that can be sold by players. The economy just wont be like Horizons or SWG were everything is pratically dependent on players. There will be NPC merchants with armor and weapons just like in the original Everquest.

I see this as a good thing, It helps out new people and keeps a good balance (even though sometimes it gets way out of line).

If it is anything like the last EQ though, most of the prices will be unattainable for the low levels and severly overpriced for the middle levels.  Anyone else remember plate armor sold by merchants?  Just a little better than bronze and a couple hundred plat more expensive.

It will probably be like the origian everquest where there was npc merchants. I think thats what they were talking about when they said they would control part of the economy. I really hope though that they've balenced that prices alot better the in eq1.
