I dont dislike lotr but I think Im about to stop playing the game, I have just grown tired of doing quests, im an ex wower and I have done alot of quests and I think I am burned out. I am not saying LotR is a WoW clone because its not I think I'm just tired of the quest system and the fact that that is the only way you can level (grinding by camping is insane and totally boring). Another thing is I am somewhat fed up with all the fantasy aspect of the genre which seems to be all of it.
Do I think LotR is a bad game? No I am just burned out from quests and the fantasy settings.

The game is tottaly linear. Groups get together for one aspect of the quest and leave. Experaince soloing verses finishing a quest is dismal at best so it is almost non existant. Quest mobs are camped. There are areas of the game that are locked to group members if other members have not "earned the axcess to that part of the quest" therefore wasted time in getting a group if cannot take part in that part of the quest.
The re play vaule is limited in scope after killing x wolfs x orcs x golbins x spiders there isn't the desire to do it again just yet.
The areas are filled with pitfalls from paying a fortune on repairs, paying for training, to falling off horses, to traveling costs, and the costs outweigh the rewards of quests. There are so many money sinks there is little insentive to do it all over again just to pay for all the costs assoicated in playing a session. In playing for a while one can lose more coins then earn depending on repair costs and or adds. Loot seems well boring and not worth the effort especialy with elete mobs.
There seems to be no sence of achivempent or rewards with repeat quests, lack of different skills and avaiable current goals.
Not enough things to do besides quests......If traveling a long way on a quest from one area such as Northern lands to past low lands forlorn in to the castel area is so far the quest reward was a few silver .......
I do not think it is a wow clone, and i do realize it is a new release, however in a year or two it might just be more enjoyable....
after thinkihng some time about why i don't login to lotro anymore and for me its these 2 points.
* Linearity: the quests lead you on a very linear way of progression with not many choices. The areas also have a very linear layout. More Choices would be more fun.
* Character Art / Animation: the Background art is absolutely great and it makes the game one of the best gfx wise. But the Character Art is mediocre at best, not much customisation options, some animations feel wrong...
I just love threads like this one. People spouting thier opinions about what's wrong with the game and the mojority of the responses are "it's boring". Hell, I thought the movie Titanic was boring, but it was more sucessful than any movie to date. Now I'm not saying LoTRO will be the biggest game ever, just that I don't consider the response "it's boring" as a valid reason for describing a game.
It does have it's flaws, but then again, what game doesn't. Is it the best game ever? No, that game hasn't been invented yet and probably never will be (too many varying opinions on what the perfect game should be), but it is a very good game, with a solid engine, very few bugs, and a very in depth story line quest system. The only grinding is involved with getting deeds done, and for the most part, you'll run across enough of the needed foes in your other quests to take care of those deeds if you are patient enough.
I will agree with the limited character customization, but who cares as long as the game is fun. I think bashing a game just for the sake of doing so is childish (which is why I guess most bashers tend to compare the game to WoW). It may not be for you, but again, who cares. Game developers can't please everyone so get over it and play something else.

Saying it's boring is at least more info than "OMG iT sUXXxx". It is a perfectly valid description. Millions of people play Sims; to me the game is boring, therefore I don't play it. See how that works?
LOTRO is incredibly polished and pretty, but NOT fun. It is indeed, boring.

No, it is not a description of the game, it's just your personal feelings...which just proves the meanless nature of this thread (which was my point to begin with).
Well yeah, the thread itself is stupid, but you are basically saying other people's thoughts on the game are invalid. Condensing one's feelings into a one word description is perfectly valid in summing up that person's feelings.
You are saying you disagree with the game being called boring because YOU disagree that it's boring.

I never agreed or disagreed with the opinion of the game being boring. Giving my opinion in that manner would have as much bearing on the actual game as the OP's do, and would also be giving in to, as you have stated, the stupidity of this thread.
A person's feeling on a game (yours, mine, anyones) are completely irrelevent. I realize these forums are here for discussions on MMOs, I just think adding someone's "feelings" (be it good or bad) detracts from any value that a thread might contain.
More than a few people in this thread gave reasons why they thought the game was boring. And things they thought were wrong with the game. Most of em are on Page 2. It seems you totally skipped those tho. If your a soccer mom or someone with only a few hours a week to play a game, this may well be the game for you. If you have more time to spend and/or require more in-depth game mechanics, you will get bored easily.
Another example of the above is CoH/CoV. Great game but just not a game i can play more than an hour at a time because, well, to my playstyle, its boring.
Feelings are in fact the only thing that matters. You cant prove a game sucks ever but expressing your feelings gives people an idea of what to expect. If I sat down right now and read the FACTS about LOTRO and the FACTS about Vanguard, Vanguard would seem like a much better game because it has more of everything except lore as per the facts. In reality I think LOTRO is boring but it sure as hell isnt as bad as vanguard thus proving that facts about the game mean nothing and only feelings and reason behind them matter
It's not that I absolutely hate LoTRO or anything, but it is rather boring. It seems to be nothing but a huge quest grind. The quests repeat themselves so much, a good majority of them have you kill X number of this. I feel like an errand boy.
There's also not much variation in what you can do to level up alts. Once you leave your starting area everyone ultimately ends up in Bree, and then from that point on everyone goes to the exact same zones from X level to X. The character progression was very linear, you couldn't really do anything and have 0 options for how you really want to form your character.
Very linear and limiting game. While I don't play WoW anymore either, at least that did all these things I mention better.
It brought nothing really new to the table, I'm sort of burned out on the quest based, fantasy genre, and it really doesn't have any end game goals outside of exploring future new areas and completing several hundred (if not thousand) quests that might improve my levels or gear for some purpose which I haven't figured out.....

I love LOTRO! The PvP is weak but the game as a whole is amazing!

I don't like LOTRO because:
Too much like World of Warcraft. Feels like battlefield 2 vs counter strike.
the engine is just too... wrong
Don't dislike it....just don't have anything to recommend it.
