Yeah, it seems a turning point as Axis was winning by great numbers and now the sides are ballancing just well; is it a new age for the Allies?
I think it could be a very hit as a lot of players would come back to battle their fave side.
I'm new to the game, that is truly great, and can say its not friendly to newbs like me, as enemy get you down from afar before you see it. But I'll try to get over it and advance within this great game.
Advices welcome!

I tried it out a few weeks ago, but I found the graphics unacceptable. Even HL1 does loos way better.
its an old game, but a good 1. ther eproblabe wont be 1 like it in a long while. (played it a 1.5 years whit short stops in between)
It has been posted many times, but the graphics will never be a good as a standalone 32 player shooter. They use smoke fog buildings etc to shorten the map to 200x200 meters. WW2OL view minimum is about 3k meters..up to 8k meters for ac and 3k or 4k for infantry. They have to display up to 128 players in view...128 left..look right 128 players..etc. Trees, cities, vehicels explosions, bodies, players, bushes, roads for 3-4k meters for everyone. To do this and still let poeple play with midlevel machines every polygon has to be budgeted. If the object is not that important for GAMEPLAY is gets fewer polys. Remember that the finest state of the art physics system is running in the background tracking EVERY round fired for 3k meters or till it loses all energy is using most of your CPU cycles and anything that can save cycles is employed. I am sorry that the graphics turned you off, but for the players, it is the gameplay that suspercedes eye candy. If you can get past your distates for the graphics you will find one of the most intensely satifiying sims on the market.
Well actually the way terrain is designed and modelled is one of the things i truly find fantastic about WWIIOL:
- Use cover to reach your target or get into position before an attack. A forest really is a forest, hills are really hills and give great lines of sight!!
- Checking enemy advancements through binocs and choosing a nice defensive position to deploy the lmg.
- Hiding in forests and under trees from enemy divebombers.
- Using the zoneless map for flanking movements.
- Organising an armoured column or ATG-convoy to take ambush positions on vital crossroads directly behind enemy frontlines (in order to disturb reinforcing columns).

Only the berms could use rework (unity II).
After breaks, I always come back to this game and always will.
Now if despite my X2, 2 Gb and 8800GTS i could get above 40fps, that would be great :-)
When talking about graphics, I would say it is just a fact of opinions. Mine is that I've been playing this game for more than 3 years and I know no other game that had given me so many hours of fun, deception, adrenaline, etc
Of course this is not a game for those who wants just fast shooting for example.
Some people would never understand that you could spend half an hour driving a tank while doing resuply or fly for more than one hour to bomb a factory, etc
but once you enter a squad and you discover team play, then you never leave this game. Trust me!
PD the starter of this topic wanted some ideas. Think the best one is to finda nice squad and join it. This is not a game to play alone
Graphics shouldn't matter if the game has the content to suffice, currently the game has been stagnant. Lets hope this new patch makes it feel more alive.

The new patch was very well put together by the developers. Graphics in a game should not matter (to a point) if the game gives you something other games can't. B.E. does one things repeatedly for me that I have never really found anywhere else. And that is the point where you just sit back and say WOW. Everything changes so often in game you are guaranteed a new experience, even if your running the same mission (sapping a forward base), it will always be different good or bad.
Mortars, TOE's, resupply and an update to certain effects are huge for this game. 6 years (off an on ) and i've still never found anything else like it.
Dirty south is where it's at. Play French and lead the way.
One this game u can not learn all the in and outs in just a short time ...there is much to learn every town is different iv been playing from day 3 of game ..when i was 1st able to get in before they had to shut it down and put in a 600 meg patch just so it was playable lol.
Yes the game changed from thos 1st days of battles takeing up to 2 hrs just to get ready for a big huge attack in thos days were still great fun for all . squads were huge ..over 100+ in most squad was nothing to 60 to 70 players in game to work togeather part start 1 attack while another part was getting set up for the next one just to keep things going with little to no stop.was nothing to some even me to play over 24 hrs stright some even more you go take a nap come back and its a different ball game Great fun.
But many Game problums bugs and the playerbase it self has changed from thos eary days . Many a player has quit actualy I will go so far as to say less then 8% of original players remain becase of the problums . The Game is the 1st to play on such a large scale player base and you cant please everone but it shur started up with a lot of peaple helping them to over come the problums it just went on so longe they just got fed up and quit .
You can get realy get tied up in this game i know peaple that lost jobs and wifes over it . Its true over the past 2 yrears witch started a slow but very steady down fall in player base and most wont return untill they see more changes in it .
Now the new patch is soon to be tested out in full its a start but not the cure .Even i hoping to see more old players return
theres a few things going to be tested and if they work to make the game something other then a Axis Run game i think it will be a small 1st step in right direction face it up to now numders rule when your out numbered 3 or 5 to one its hard to stay and play a game u know u cant win unless axis players switch sides and make a allied win ....then turn it around and rub it in like they do ...it makes game not you want to keep playing. And remember CRS wont allow any Negitive remarks in there fourms or you will get banned .
So iv seen all the changes in game ..If your new and go as a axis player they will grab ya soon enough . If you want to play Allied find one of the most working squads in game in your time frame ;and join them but make shur they will take the time to help break you in to it . The game has history good and bad ;be prepared to hear it all. Dont give up on it after playing just a few weeks it will take time to learn ground play .,air ,and sea give it at least a good 90 days then judge for your self . Im shur if you finf the right group you will Enjoy the game just dont get tied up into geting in one of the High command posistions till your ready to comit fully to the game it takes that kind of person to that job right .
Agree with the squad information, there are some squads who are just a collection of people who fight like lonewolves, then there are those who do have a team ethic.

Yes i can when players many of them most quit tried till they just gave up to help CRS fix the problums early on and basicly got
slaped in the face for trying and now that CRS is in trouble they want to just now try to solve the problum . Gos back to to little to late

One patch wont bring back old players that have lots Neg to say bought game therfore it hurts game more then you think .
its not a minority your talking of . Then number of peaple thats left the game because of CRS is more then is playing in game now . Thats a fact you can lookup yourself .

Yes the player base is in the minority, you could probably say the same of games like Everquest which have been around for a similar length of time.

People are loving the patch. Several squad members have come back because of this patch also a friend who gave it up 6 months ago also is coming back... Don't see how you are qualifying your remarks.
I am curious too. Where can I look this up?
Look at this way if CRS had 3000 steady full time players like it did in the past .....We would not have to be
obtained by the public.Truth is there learn for yourself that way when you do try shoot ne down in little vain attemts you will have the knowlage > if I tell you step by step then you can allways say I Fabracated it or its false information thats why i say go look for yourself .
The only problem with this game is the whiners.
I myself have faith in the developers and to that end have just gone and given them $500 to continue what they do....after all I actually enjoy playing this game. I suggest you do too. Enjoy games, that is, not this one cos you clearly don't.
