Treatment of merged games has gotten weird...

This is not a debate about whether Guild Wars or CoX should be merged or not. But given that when a game is merged...

Take a look at the full rankings. GW Factions and Nightfall hold the #1 and #2 slots overall. LOTRO is #3, EQ2 is #4, and GW is #5.

But in the "Highest ranked MMORPGs" listing on the home page, it goes LOTRO #1, EQ2 #2 and GW #3... This is batty.

If a game is going to be merged, it should get its highest individual game listed in its appropriate place. Don't average them. It seems only fair.

    Actually I think I know what is going on Zhiroc.  It's not the averaging (at least not in the way that you think) that is making the GW come in at #3 (or #5 on the full list).  It has to do with the number of votes.  Check this out:

    Gulid Wars: Factions = 801 votes (#1 on full list)

    Guild Wars: NightFall = 565 votes (#2 on full list)

    EQ2 = 4471 votes (#3 on full list)

    LOTRO = 1966 votes (#4 on full list)

    Guild Wars = 5150 votes (#5 on full list)

    So, even though GW:Factions and GW:NightFall are 1 & 2 respectively on the full list... there just isn't enough votes for either of them to carry the combined Guild Wars score above EQ2 or LOTRO.  Does that make sense?  I'm pretty sure that is how they are doing the figuring, and it would be the fairest way to do the combined scores.

    (Now, if only we could get them to treat CoX the same as they treat Guild Wars... since they are exactly the same).
