FunCom is innovative (not smart A55)

I've seen a few trolls post some really poorly thought out criticisms of the game. I normally don't respond to trolls but it give me a chance to point out what I like about what we have seen so far.

I've seen some claim that an M for mature rating won't keep kids out, or it's not unique. I agree that this is not why FunCom is innovative. Just being the first M rated mainstream MMO and focusing on adults alone doesn't make that. Having breasts in an MMO is just going to give most adults a chuckle and they move on. All though having blood is a first for a mainstream and it's some thing we have asked for a long time ago.

What really sets AOC apart is the fact that it doesn't have all of Tolkien races. All most every fantasy MMO to date has. It doesn't favor casters over melee classes according to an AOC PR interview. Thats new. Even WoW where well geared warriors can top PVP shadow priests, mages and locks still have life much easier.

The combat system is a given, yes thats definitely new and for those of us who are tired of having the same jello served to them in different flavors this is a huge change.

The graphics, Realism. Not like Vanguard or any other games big headed characters and clumsy models. Beautiful landscaped with plant detail you would expect to see in 10,000 BC in sub arctic climates. Nothing fancy with the buildings or armor. Just simple beautiful realism. When Slave trading was common and most people lived in small wood huts huddled together between farm fields. One of the buildings remind me of a recreation of a real building in Austria dating back to the early bronze age. Before Greece was even sophisticated. A girls bones found at the site showed that she spent so much time grinding wheat on her knees that her toes curled up.

The cultures are inspired by real early cultures just like the novels. All though Sumerians were middle easter people, possibly invaders from Europe. They ranged from Iraq to Turkey, not northern barbarian lands.

Horse mounts and siege warfare. I know they have been done before but by the previews it's nothing like Lineage 2 or DAOC style.

So to it's critics, yes it will have a more mature base despite what you claim. Trolling these forums only prove you don't know what maturity is. Yes it will be a success and I'm sure it will have regular updates, even for the Xbox.

I'm not sure if this is new, but check out this game play video. This is real game play, polished above earlier videos that still had a rough look to them. Only negative is the single player Asian samurai energy balls that he sucks in after a kill. I played a PS2 samurai game with similar effects, can't remember the name though.

Damn, combat looks nice. It's miss labeled then....

It does, and it will be awsome game. Look at the e3 stage show.

Unfortunately it has nothing to do with AOC

Are you sure? there is on screen blood splatter and the character detail is good. Conan has been out in Europe on the PS2 since 2004. Here are some screens and they don't look like the Youtube video.

That is one item that i dont see many people talking about in depth that i love.  The whole idea of past semi-accurate culture (conan style) is a breathe of fresh air.  Real men and whomen just duking it out without any halflings.    I know i can't count my eggs before they hatch but i do have high expectations from funcom that AoC wil have a strong historical background of the human culture AND a ton of conana lore.

Sorry, just to comment. It is almost exactly like DAoC. And I think the combat system is overhyped, but we'll see.

Ye I read it like that first too, but I think what he´s trying to say is while it is possible for a warrior to top PVP, shadow priests n mages n locks have it easier. It's only partially true tho, a warrior in 1on1 is a semi-gimp. But group vs group pvp requires a warrior unless you wanna be mega-gimped.

nerf deathwish lost it for me. WoW got boring after awhile anyway. Im looking forward to WAR cause its a refreshing twist on pvp, and i like my elves and dwarves. But im interested to see what funcom does with this game.<----Greenskin
