New To Guild Wars

Hey everyone... im getting guildwars in a couple of days and i just wanted to say hi to y'all  ...

i was hoping that maybe one of you would be filled with interesting and wise knowledge that you could bestow upon me prior to buying guildwars so i could start out knowing what im doing a little bit  .

I would suggest reading the stickied thread that Secrom created here on the GW forum.  It shall impart basic knowledge of FAQ's for you.  There are some willy veterans of many battles on this forum, and they will often pass their knowledge unto another in one of three ways: 1) Pointing you to the sticky tread above 2 ) Pointing you to the official and un-official thread 3) Offering first hand knowledge.  The question you ask will compell them to provide one of those three:

Basic "I never played GW what's up with it" ?'s = Sticky Thread

"I am playing GW but how/where/when do I _____" = Wiki

"What do you guys think about _______" = First Hand Knowledge

Oh....I almost forgot...trying to compare to very different games like Guild Wars and WoW will usually get you some dirty stares and a finger pointing to the sign that  says, "DON'T FEED THE TROLLS", or a total non-response the Vets.  Even if it is meant with total innocence.
