Soooo.....I havn't played EQ2 in a few years. Initially because I'm a SWG vet, and I'm sure EVERYBODY has heard what happened in Nov '05, and thus boycotted all SOE products.
Later because I've been in Japan the last few years with no computer.
So, my question is, is EQ2 worth returning to? I'm a little worried about resubsribing only to see SOE did to it what they did to SWG.....

I strongly think EQ2 worth a try. But if you hate SOE that much you could try others, like LOTRO or Vanguard
Check out one of the trials to see for youself.
General consensus though is that its way better than it was in that first year.
Just so you know, Vanguard is SOE too.

Yeah, and from what I've heard, it's not really worth even checking out...

EQ2 is way different and way better then it was at release. I'm a huge EQ2 fan,but when I bought the game after it was released I was shocked at what a piece of crap it was. Luckily I tried the game about 6 months or so later, thankfully to find the game was way better. The bugs gone, the lag very much improved and many other problems corrected.
I really think it's about time for people to move on from the whole Sony hate fans because they ruined their game. Yes It does suck, and I'm sorry it happened...but it's likely going to happen again in other games. It has happened in other games. I've seen plenty of people who was mature enough to say hey this sucks, but I'm not going to dwell on it,nor am I going to let it taint my whole future vision of games in general.
Overall I think Sony is a decent enough company...I've been annoyed at a few things they have done, and they definately have made some mistakes in the past. But I'm a pretty passive person and don't hold on to grudges. I think you should give EQ2 another try...You might enjoy it,or you might not. But you shouldn't let a companies past mistake keep you from potentially enjoying you present day gaming experiences.
