Would VSoH already be dramatically be different if. . .

... if SOE hadn't recently been burned by making sweeping changes to the core of SWG?

In other words, a lot of players want some dramatic changes made to VSoH. But is it possible that SOE is hesitant to make substantial adjustments to VSoH because the memory of the NGE fiasco is still too fresh?

I dunno. Just a thought.

No one knows. No one will know.

Let's be serious.  Vanguard might need NGE changes or call them "fixes" if you want to.

I agree. After reading all this discontent with Vanguard to date, it sounds like a NGE might be a good idea... Feels weird to say that though.

    But the combat is fun.

People that craft seem to like the way crafting works.

The card game is actually not that bad if you're into it.

I don't really understand what drastic changes people think VG needs.  I see a lot of people who keeps saying they enjoyed the game but the performance was a problem.  Every review I reads talks about how well the class are done.

Changing the quest stories isn't exactly drastic.

You also don't need an NGE to fix some bugs.

Also, the title of your thread makes no sence.

There is a lot I like about Vanguard too, Urdig.

A lot of what is considered to be a "challenge" in Vanguard really just means time-consuming.  To improve or get faction is a challenge because it is tedious.  It is too time-consuming.  I would say the same for crafting but some crafter say Vanguard's crafting is great.

I like the combat too, Urdig.  I like the different classes. I am going to make an alt, not sure what yet.

That is not what gaming is about, it is about the communities and growth, not about dominating a market and suficating anything in it.
    Huh?

What do you think Nintendo was doing before sony ever stepped foot in the console industry?  Sega?  Atari?  Commador?  Calecovision?

Sony dominated for a decade or so with the PS1 and 2.  The PS1 was thier entry into the console market and it was HUGE.

Who would they be selling out to?  Microsoft?

You can't sell out when you set industry standards.

Maybe if SOE did a reverse NGE on Vanguard!

i.e. removed levels and replaced it with a skill system

I'd say it's more because those kind of changes would require too large of an investment for a product that has this bad of a reputation.  The probable return is not worth the required investment.

I think alot if not all of those that don't enjoy Vanguard today wouldn't be doing so even if NGE didn't struck SWG. I do think that alot of those people would put blame elsewhere and be less vocal about it.

But a big difference I'm not so shure.

I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention.

If they did that, I'd seriously consider buying the game, and better yet, I'd play it.

Heh, whatever you want to call it, good changes are good changes. I just think its a shame that so many people can imagine a great game coming out of Vanguard, but for whatever reason, the game doesn't seem to be shifting gears in meaningful ways.

Sure, they are making "improvements" to whats already there. But from where this mmonkey it sitting, it looks like they need to go further than that. Like take a long - hard look at the core gameplay ideas behind Vanguard, identify the gameplay pieces that people actually enjoy, and enhance/change/evolve the elements that aren't living up to expectations.
